I'm really interested in the Yoko Y742S Tires, has anyone tried them. I'm currently running 7 inch white wagon wheels and BFG AT tires, but want a little more classic look. So I want to put my stock rims and caps back on, and run a tall skinny tire, but will they be too skinny, as in unstable and wobbly feeling on the highway. I never liked how the 235/75R15 tires just stick out past the fenders, even with the 7 inch rims. But I don't want bicycle tires either, any advice, or pics of a 7x15 tire and a 235/75R15.
It looks like the original RK3 is still being made by Dunlop Malaysia. Both 15" and 16" are available. I have one original RK3 and this looks to be identical unlike the newer Dunlop Universal which has the same tread pattern but different sidewall markings.
I recently picked up a '74 40 that came with the original unused spare RK-3 in mint condition. No dry rot or cracking. I'd like to find 4 more of these, or a similar replacement. Did anybody end up finding a suitable alternative in 15"? If not, I have a perfect tire to be used as a mold if a company were to reproduce them.
@catskinner and @west aussie and @fwed and @ozcrusier may be interested in a set too. If this happens in a few months I know I will be but only 16" x 7.50", although I have a mate that will potentially be in on 7.00's.
It's often not obvious here where to actually go buy something. I went to several tire stores and nobody could source these Super Swallow tires for me. Finally looked up the importer online and they actually had a store on their website. 30 SAR ($8 US) for delivery to my door....sign me up. New rim came direct from Toyota here (also about $8 for delivery). Went to a local tire shop yesterday and for 80 SAR ($21) they supplied an intertube (Korean; not Chinese), tube protector, and they mounted the tire. Kind of a shame to put it underneath but on the other hand it needed something in that void in front of the bumper.
