No problem Sean. I think we all understand with the low volume it's to find anyone to take it on. Just happy you found someone to take this on.

Not sure how many are needing the original FJ25 license plate light lense. Thinking of trying to make a couple of copies for myself and store the original glass lense away.

I just received this e-mail from David the other day. I'm working on him completing the order so there won't be a 3rd production run and a 3rd wait.

I have to go back and count, but I believe I/we need another 12 complete sets

Heloo Sean,

Yes I have stock sitting here, I have 10 red and 8 amber lenses, just need to be trimmed, we can send out Monday.

Thanks David

hello David, I'm wondering if you are able to offer me a definitive time frame on having the rest of the lenses made? Please let me know if you need a quantity number again.

thanks,

-Sean

Put me on me on for four lenses too (2x red, 2x amber).

I have yet to find a set of lights and and I am hoping to find a set one day (but know it will be tough). No plans on reproducing a the frames I'm affraid?

If there are any unpaid for sets, put me down for a pair of amber and a pair of red. You need to nudge me.... sometimes I find things that could come in useful for these projects. ;)

hello David,

I was wondering if you had received my response?

-Sean

I am not asking for any money up front, this project has taken too long for me to be holding on to your hard earned money without certainty of a product.

I would like to complete my transaction with David in one more swoop instead of 8 here and 10 there, so please bear with me. As always, any new news I receive I will share ASAP.

my cost will be your cost $17 ea + shipping from Australia to be added into the initial cost and them some sort of Priority mail distribution once in the US. For those of you willing to pick up, I always have an open door for a meet and greet with food:beer:

last straw

this was just brought to my attention by another mud member.

this is the last straw, I'm punching out with this project. I'm sorry this didn't pan out the way I anticipated but I'm not wired to support this kind of nonsense. The contact info is there and I know he has at least 8 sets to sell. He has masters so he can do more, whether he is willing I don't know.

again, sorry to all of you who have been patiently waiting:meh:

Thought I'd provide an update. I received and test-fitted the reproduction lenses from tailights.com discussed in this thread. They work. But they are not entirely correct.

The correct Koito part number for the amber lens is L 1047. I did not receive any L 1047s. Instead, I received amber lenses stamped L 1046, which is the correct Koito part number for the red lenses. Also, correct L 1047 amber lenses lacked the tabs protruding from the end of the threaded portion of the red L 1046 lenses, between which the screw on top of the housings sits. What appears to have happened is that David used a single mould, the L 1046, to produce both the amber and red lenses. Aside from that, cosmetically, unless someone purposely scrutinizes them up close most folks will not see anything obviously flawed at a glance once installed.

The bottom line is that they work and are (presumably) obtainable. Although the possibility does exist that "your mileage may vary."

The first photo compares faded originals in the foreground (L 1047 on the right and L 1046 on the left) to the reproductions behind each. The next photos are just to show what they look like in their housings under natural light and a sprinkle of rain.
