I understand that, but I guess I don't understand if 14% more power costs you $3k and 100% more power costs you $4k why anyone would opt for 14% gains seems like poor ROI to me?
Not only that with the higher power you also gain the ability to properly tune the system, not one that hopefully works with the stock ECU.

Who's selling a bolt-on turbo kit that requires no mods, costs $4k and gives you 100% more power?
My point was that 2kCruiser could be if he addressed the small issues, he has tackled all the big stuff. Hell throw another $500 on there and tune it and you could probably double his gains. The stock injectors and fuel pump if managed have a lot more room for power.
EMS is advertising 1.5-2x stock power for $4,800, in their traditional setup, which will have additional benefits at a slightly higher costs, so 2kCruiser with his setup without the $800 y-pipe turbo manifold should be right in that ballpark.

Okay, hold on. First off, I have not done a dyno yet, so we can not say what the gain is. 2nd, is that I am completely satisfied with the increase in hp/tq that I feel when compared to stock with the current turbo I have installed. 3rd, if I want to show off my "huge dyno numbers" I can simply install a larger turbo and show the bigger numbers but driveability is going to suffer.

This video of lilevo shows his turbo which has to be about 6k+ in parts alone (estimating here)
Also he is boosting I believe close to 10psi.

I agree with 2k cruiser, if he's happy why mess with it? Reliability and drivability go a long way IMO. Besides that I'm sure it's nice to be able to go back to stock if need be in under an hour!
Who says 2kCruisers system is more reliable?? Still haven't seen an AFR vs boost chart
I will agree to disagree and stay out of your thread but in my opinion there are a lot of corner's being cut and me personally since I do believe reliability is paramount was just suggesting the things I think are mandatory in a N/A to turbo build. namely being able to tune for that additional air and adjusting timing. These threads are here to learn new things. I will apologize if things get a little hairy sometimes since we are hot blooded car nuts. Since this setup I have is something new to the 80 series it is all about testing. So far I do not think I need injectors, different fuel pump, or any other type of ecu management. This is my opinion on my build. I am not saying that this is the correct way nor the wrong way, it is all about trying new and innovative things for me. Do not get offended about different setups because that is what they are, different. No wrong or right about it. Please continue to give your feedback and comments, I appreciate them.

Whats the difference between race injectors and a race pump rather than just saying "upgraded injectors/pump"? It seems like we are talking about two different things when in fact bigger injectors/pump are simply that.
Really comparing apples to oranges here. Completely different setups. Can't compare boost levels and pricing. You can really only compare your own setup with your truck and what it put out stock. Then you can do the calculations compared to the gains on your setup.
My build price out is in a spreadsheet on my thread. It's around $1800 for all the "required" parts and then you would add whatever turbo and wastegate to that price.

Pulled the front shaft off today and called HK Performance and got an appointment for 11am tomorrow. One slight problem is that he asked if the truck was lifted or not. Problem is that he has an above ground dyno and clearance is under 7 ft, he actually said about 6'8. Mine is about 7.5'. He said to bring it by anyway just to see if he can make it work. So we will see. Lilevo, love the work you did on your rig. Very clean and great gains, however the pricing is kind of misleading since the cost of the Engine Management you have is about $1500 by itself, plus Turbo, plus wastegate, so my estimate is not far off.
The engine management I have is the FIC. It's only $300-$500 depending on the model.
it is AEM FI/C, the AEM standalone EMS won't work because of the separate TCU. Like I said you could add a couple hundred dollars to your setup and have a more FI friendly setup, with more power. FI/C 6, will work FI/C 8, has a couple of extra features that are nice, like built in MAP sensor. FI/C 6 is $366

Hey there 2kcruiser...been away for a while...newnorn baby is home so been helping the wife
...It is odd you know...took her to our surfing spot and you have to get there with a rig and just started wondering how sick she would be turboed out...we have a lot of places to go offroading and do sweet stuff around...quite a bunch of 4x4's here...maybe a trip down here would be awesome for members...we rent the Wranglers an beat the crap out of them on the trails...
