Thanks Zach, see you monday?

Also if any one needs it the aussie window weather strip through Restoration Specialties is AS1222 and it is like $20 per section.

Clint

Nice! It's amazing all the crap you can fit into a tailgate.

How much of the window strip does it take for both windows? My stock stuff is starting to wear. Did you find a source for welt on the inside?

Yes you can fit a lot of stuff in there. I wasnt thinking but the first time I closed it I just about died as I wasnt thinking about how much weight all that stuff adds. I am such a dork. At any rate I have yet to put them together. I cleaned them up but am considering having them soda blasted and powder coated. I went with what was posted before and bought 3 lengths. You are more than welcome to any spare I have.

As for the welt I found black at SOR for $1.25 per foot Specter Off-Road Land Cruiser Parts - Page 200 Tools & Chemicals, or blue for .75 per foot on their clearance page. I have some blue here at home but am considering the black as it matches the stuff Kevin sells. You are welcome to the blue if it will work for you.

Yep see you and Mike Monday night.

Sweet! I am really stoked about getting to bend some tube!

Clint

After a much needed break from working on the truck Mike and I got right to it without delay today. Brokenparts was kind enough to lend me a hand getting some tubes bent for the rear bumper a while back and Mike and I put them to use today.

1. Mike and I cut down the bumper I threw together for Rubithon last year and ground down the welds:

2. Mike got right to work on the upper tubes while I watched in awe of this man's grinding abilites!

3. Me: " Hey Mike I have a.."
Mike: " Not now I am on a roll.."
Me: " But Mike its a hole cutter.."
Mike: (20 mins later) " Why didnt you say so?"

Even with the hole cutter/ notcher the bends and tubes took a lot of finess to fit!

4. After a good 6 plus hours and a bit of spot welding we came up with this:

Obviously lots of work left to do but I am very pleased with the way it is turning out and am very appreciative of Mike's help and wealth of knowlege!

I really am digging that bumper! Now I'm going to have to redo my rear bumper since this one is turning out very nice.

I'm liking this, I might have to build something similar.

let me know when. I owe you a few hours!

I love it!!! Looks fantastic.

thanks man! saw you ended up with brokenparts bumper. hopefully it doesn't jinx your truck and parts and body panels start falling off like his. :D

couldnt convince him to cut up the princess huh Mike? I'll find a way to get him to cut those quarter panels one way or another....

Looks good Clint.

not gonna happen. I would let you hack away but I have seen your bodywork. not pretty :p. functional yes, pretty no.

I'm liking this, I might have to build something similar.

thanks!

Got some more done this week and am very pleased so far! The tire carrier went through two revisions to get it closer to the body and add support. I can hang off of the end of the arm and bounce and there is no flex at all!!!

I am working out some designs in my head for the jerry can and high lift but wont have time for another 2 weeks to get to it.

Let me know your thoughts.

haha! thanks Mike!

Very nice! Where you MTB'ing these days? This rain....

I took a trip to Moab, Fruita, Gooseberry, and Hurricane to get my fix last month. Have been hitting the virtual ride with the spin trainer and mtb magazines.. This weekend however will be McKenzie River!

Nice tow hitch. :)

I'd do some kind of tube inside the side hoop so you dont get a rock or branch into panel. Other than that it looks great man.

Lots of room in there huh? Maybe a small plate with some dimple die holes? ;)

The drop is necessary to keep me from ripping off the bumper on the temt trailer again

Nice Clint ... just a question .. why you choose the drivers side for the tire ..?

I can see out the back better. Sounds odd but I have drivers side mirror to see left and have better view with less blind spot on the right with it there.

What are your plans for the passenger side swing out?

dual jerry can and high lift. I was also thinking of moving the CB antenna from the tree catcher on the side. Hope to have some more done in the middle of June when things slow down again!

make sense .. I was thinking just if you need to stop side on the road it's easier ( safe ? ) open in the pass side ..

I agree, if you take a shot on the top of that bar it may bend into the body temporarily. Hard to tell how close it is in the pictures though.

Otherwise looks fantastic, let's meet up this year and scratch it!
