I'll check the dipstick tomorrow morning. And not looking for external validation necessarily, mainly just some level of customer service- that often includes talking to the customer about the product they have brought to service.

Completed the Old Man Emu lift kit install on my 200 this weekend... it was a lot of bananas.




The rear was way easier to do than the front. Got tired of fighting to pull the old front shocks out of the Lower Control Arm so hit em with the Diablo carbide blade on the sawzall. Zip zip.

Not sure if it’s because of the KDSS system, but the sway bars and sway bar links were a huge pain during the install process. Always in the way on front passenger and hard to get seated again.

Truck rides way nicer with the new suspension. Front came up by a solid 5”. Rear is up by 3”. Clearance at the lowest point of the front skid in now at 13”. It had been at 8” with the old blown shocks.

Now off to alignment and I’ll throw some wheel spacers on it this week to fill the wheel wells a bit better with these tiny 33” girl tires. As @afgman786 had warned- post lift it looks like the truck skipped leg day.

Budbuilt skids and sliders going on next week soon and then I’ll tackle install for the 10k warn winch.

Question for folks:

This truck has a Pilkington windshield. How can I tell if they did a good job installing it? Is there something visual to look for?

PO said it didn't leak or whistle and he didn't even realize it was not original until I pointed it out.

I also just bought an 08 same color combo as yours with $164k at purchase. during my inspection I noticed that the vehicle appears to have all original parts with the Pilkington windshield being the exception. I just ran through the carwash and checked for leaks / condensation. looks like they did a good job, but I really wouldn't know unless it was obvious.

✓ - Installed ARB front recovery points (ARB2815020)

✓ - Installed new clock spring to fix issue with intermittent Cruise Control - (Toyota Part No. 84306-0E010)

And now featuring BudBuilt rock sliders. It was a couple banana job, but it took about 6 hours. Thanks to the BudBuilt install video, I had all the right tools ready to go (floor jack, piece of 1x4 lumber about 15" long, flex head 12mm wrench, etc.), none the less, a very long install. In my opinion, worth the time to not have to drill the frame and worth every penny for stout build quality for my use case of smacking into east coast boulders and rock ledges.

BudBuilt skids and Warn 10k synthetic line winch going in next weekend. That will complete the build for the next year or two- or more. She's coming together nicely.

✓ - Installed BudBuilt skid plates. Front, engine, and transmission. Stout build and great engineering. Fit, finish, and hardware are impressive. I still need to order a transfer case skid but this will have to do for now. *Note to self: don’t hit the transfer case. (Edit: ordered and received transfer case and gas tank skids from BudBuilt. Will install before hitting the trails.)

Winch goes in on Sunday and then it’s off to the races.

✓ - Also installed new OEM Transfer Position Switch (Toyota Part No. 84223-60010) Very easy install and nice to have 4lo engage without wiggling around the switch every time. I suspect that someone didn’t realize you need to push in when turning the switch and forced it, breaking the internal pieces and causing them to spin in the housing and not engage properly.

I got the winch mounted into the bull bar today using ratchet straps without removing the bull bar. The "rugged ridge" winch spacers I had on-hand really came in handy as the Warn VR Evo 10S winch housing was interfering with the internal bracing on the bull bar making it impossible to mount the feet onto the bar without a spacer. I also had to grab two longer bolts (M10-1.5 x 70mm) to mount the Warn hawse style fairlead to the bull bar as these bolts also have to pass through the spacer and attach to the winch feet.


I clocked the clutch handle so that it is accessible through the top of the bumper, but I think I may have put the winch in upside down- laugh out loud. (Edit: I've double checked and it's not upside down. But I don't understand why Warn would put the cable attachments underneath the winch. It seems like that would expose them to a lot more water, and it's pretty far from the top of the bumper where the control box will get mounted- so I might need extended winch motor cables or I'll just keep the control box in the bumper somehow.) I'll get it sorted and post up more pics later this week.

It almost looks like I'll be able to fit the winch in the bumper with the control box attached. I'm going to try that and report back. Hopefully in that case it will still be easy to access the plug for the remote.

I originally wanted to get an M8000 Warn winch. Install would have been much more straight forward, but 8k is just a little too little for this big girl so I'd probably end up running a snatch block on most pulls in that case and it would be a hassle.

The winch spacers are winch parts, not jeep parts. Who knows why they marketed it to jeeps. How often do you hit your transfer case skid? I assume the gas tank skid will get dented.

Depends on which trails you end up doing.. every one of my skids is jacked up. Especially my transfer case one.

I know this is the transmission one but the transfer case one is this bent as well
