thanks guys

Yeah maybe i will flop the canvas top over the bows today and take a few shots.
Need to get the door canvas soon and start assembling the soft doors :)

Alex, did you get a chance to send out the door canvas to match my top?

:D

Sorry had to go to DC for an unexpected business trip. I mailed it yesterday.

Are they not brass?

The tabs cant be bent for proper lever?

At idle where does the fuel in the bowl height at?

The carb just needs to be adjusted, spray carb clean around and check for vacuum leaks.

Linn is super smart and will help you, best is he's fair/cheap and a super freak of knowledge.

cool

yeah, when Mark rebuilt my carb, he said it was a modified float, and did not have a correct float to put in it...

I have to scrounge up a correct float.

Today i am gonna take the top off the carb and see if i can adjust the float...

meh so here is the deal, there is some modified and cut 2bbl float int he carb...
no matter how I adjust the level, low ( at the mark ), idles great, but no power and sputters when you on it.
Or high level , and it is a champ with acceleration but cannot idle or start well...

I hope it is just the float and i can find a new one ( proper original one ), but this is getting irritating...
Just want it to idle and run like it should oy.

seems there was some dirty sediment in the bowl too when i open it, man, jsut want this thing in working order.

Maybe someone have a clean functioning big barrel carb i can buy?

My 0.02...get a second working carb...any carb from any year that'll fit, and then worry about finding what you need :meh:.

You are driving it already. How about a "it is roadworthy" pic. On those carbs, I can make a call if you like.

hehe, if you have a lead on a big window carb with zero problems i am game :)

So here is the break down today, I found a carter brass/bronze float that looks identical to the one in the manual, pop it in with the float adjust per manual.

idles liek a dream!!!!!

BUT, when you drive it, the float get stuck "open " meaning the fuel bowl fills up and prevents it form idling correctly... If you hit the top of the carb with a mallet, the float unsticks and bammo, idles like a champ.

So basically my float is getting stuck in the up position preventing it from going back down the the carb window line after you get on the throttle.

WTF cause this?

:D

I will post some photos of the carter float i found, looks the same as the manual :D

What dusty old joint did you find that in? That old place up the road on Milwaukie towards Powell?
