Wonder what Smart Start means?

It means you have that new fangled push button keyless starting system from the 200 series :grinpimp:

Great news sir!

Think the long shot is implying distance, like "she the travelled this far on her own", as if an up close pic in the parking lot, might be suspect as fraudulent.

Is it a bad thing, indicative of a realist (borderline pessimist) that I can see the rust spots in that pic?

Are those the rose colored glasses rumored to be found at the bottom of a box of wine?

Yet to actually discover them, but the temporary effects are very real, while searching for. :)

Del-version:

I reckon that, if given the choice between a woman that's absolutely gorgeous on the outside, but lacks the drivetrain to correspond, or one that's solid, but not flawless, visually, with a strong motor that just keeps on pulling, we all know what the correct answer would be.

If it's possible to look beyond the short term, one would realize that everything deteriorates, but the surface faster than all others, and, one day, there won't be much that differentiates between the now-flawless and the flawed, but the solid core and strong engine, while it may not be as it was in a younger form, still pulls.

The other may not run, at all...

Dunno how the really equates, nor have I began the expedition on the quest for the prize in the bottom of the box.....in case y'all were wondering if I was drunk.....yet.

Hahahaha.

I wouldn't know, I wear beer goggles. :) Like the guy said in the 40 forum, Ginger or Mary Ann, oh the decisions!

Dude, Mrs Howell isn't in the running?!?

:)

Now, that's just not right. Back in the Sixties, when that show was on and I was a teenager, it was Ginger in a heartbeat. Growing up and having a family, I realized Mary Ann was the gal for me. Now that I'm 62... Mrs. Howell, Hell Ya!

Very bad, in fact I think you need help and that’s exactly what I’m here for.

You send that ugly body with that one rust spot to me and I’ll make sure it never taunts you again!

Hmmmm......guess we now know PC's preferred "vintage".

I always wondered why they were trying to get off the island, myself.

Before of after you chop on the 73?

It's ready, along with all my flat bill hats, to come your way, anytime.

Actually it looks like I’ll be chopping a 68 to save the 76.

Bring the flat bills and I’ll schedule and appointment for us to get matching five point star tattoos on our elbows before we do some other hard core stuff like flexing out our rigs on rocks and stuff!

Or just hang out at the local 4WP retail center.....

Off topic, not that it matters:

Went from thinking this:

Yes, it bolts up, with one minor mounting mod on the firewall and new front body mounts......but, priced it out through dealer (with a club discount, no freight, but sales tax) and it exceeds the benefit found in the much wider coverage afforded the newer width .

That said, and reason for broaching here (instead of "hardcore Mud"), during investigation (translated: me, wading through piles of rotted sheet metal, over carcasses of body shells) discovered that the upper firewall mounting locations of the 55s is the same as 7Xs, the rake (for lack of better) of the upper fenders, as well the narrowing from cowl to grille is the same.

Doors mount almost identically, with the exception of the overall size of the hinge and size of the pillar, door is longer on 7X, since dash/cowl deeper and more driver space.

My point, you ask?

While it's no secret that the 7Xs are a weird mating of the 4X and 55, there's more similarities to the pig than I'd have thought.

Front axle placement in relation to firewall is close, frames are close, body mounts from a 75 could be modified to the pig body (not that there's more bodies than frames) so on.

So, if one desired, could almost adapt the 7X axles, suspension, steering to the Pig, which in and of itself is a nominal improvement, but given the minimal changes between early and late 7Xs, could drop a pig body on a late 7X chassis and pick up coils.

Trust me when I say it’s a last resort but I’m having a hard time locating another good quarter.
I see 3 options:
1. Wait for bobm
2. Roll your own, like this guy in post #16: Re-Freshed Pig
3. Destroy the beloved, rare and irreplaceable '68 Piggy... Go ahead already!.....

My daughter wants to come over and discuss option #3
