Delancy's NEW 76 PIGGY ???

I don't see anything wrong with their looks. As JMack said, convert to a dual filament. If looking for a different replacement, I still like the VW lights. Cheap, plentiful and good looks.

You're going through the same dilemma as me. I like the G lights better than stock since they're a bit sleeker.

Personally I think I'm going to opt for the smooth fender and figure out lights for the grill or bumper. I just ordered Corolla KE20 lights off ebay. I'll post up when they arrive and see what we all think.

Can you change the socket to an 1157 style?

Going to try....

They aren't bad. I think if I was ranking them I would go late model pig lights, 70 series lights, the G lights, and then the early pig lights.

In other words, you ain't diggin' 'em. Ha.

I did, too, but when I'd see a G, it appeared the same physical size, similar lines to the Pig, so thought it was worth trying.

That was my first choice on this Pig and I'd even consider the headlamp with parking light integrated if I could've found good replacements for the grille signals.

Alberto sent this earlier, he thinks a 60 side marker and it doesn't look too bad......

Prolly beat this horse a little while longer.

I am not sure the G lights sit up high enough;)

My serious opinion would be that if you were going to run the G lights they should go on the side like the lights on a 70.

Hey, that might look good! Not sure if you want to do the body work then. Might be hard to match that paint.

Hmmmmm.... Mebbe Uni's then?

Have never seen in person, so have no clue how viable.

If going that route, as you suggest, couid run 70 Side Markers, but then leaves the signal to contend with, even though they can be modified to dual filament.

As far as I can tell, side parking indicators with forward facing signals are legit, ie 70-72 Pigs.

I'm not 100% sold on this, but pondering side lights in the grille as signals.

And cutting in parking indicators on the side, but then it's kinda naked.

She'll undergo major surgery next spring, and repaint Freeborn.

Both signal holes are rotted, so they'll be exposed until next spring, anyway I go about it.

C'est la vie. Drive it for a while as a shakedown run and to rejuvenate the honeymoon-ish emotion, before another years worth of inoperability.

Would probably be better to cobble up the OE signals and call it a day, worry about changes later, but crossing this bridge now, since the harness is being made.

My plan albeit flawed is to omit the factory fender lights “branch catchers” and come up with some 69ish dual element grill light then wait for someone official with a badge and a ticket book to tell me I need something different. Yes I know this is not a well thought out plan but I don’t have a plan “B” and I already bashed my factory lights once and don’t care for the look of the non-factory lights.

I dunno about no fender lights.

But think something sleeker is in order, evidenced by the failed G lights.

Fueling at a truck stop, just a few minutes ago, and saw the gaudiest, blinged out, chromed out, cleanest semi I've ever seen, and I couldn't take my eyes off it, for some reason.

Look up on the roof and the cab market lights were huge, kinda squared off faced, but a teardrop shaped, with a housibg that covered the rear of the lens.....and it hit my like a lightning bolt.

Looked like the face of the G light, with the arse of a VW, flat base and I couldn't see any exposed fasteners (granted, it was 100' away and 10' in the air) and they had to have been 4"x4"x8" and didn't appaar to be LED.

Gonna play lot lizard and see how many I can check out before I'n propositioned or hauled off to jail.

As they say hope is a lousy strategy, but sometimes it is good tactics, Plan B should not be Plan A twice as hard.
Maybe something like a little panel mount light placed in the upper side fender would satisfy the law and not offend the eye?

My idear for grille signals....

Cut (or punch, preferably, so it'd have a return roll of lip to the inside) a hole in the grille and mount non-US 80 Series amber side markers, OR any flat faced amber light that fits into and can be secured by the cutout.

image.jpg

Don't know how well the corners of punch might tweak the grille material, but don't see any way to hem to have a nice finished edge.

The reverse lights are the perfect height and pattern, but lack about 1" of filling up the hole below headlight bucket.

One think I know it the ambers have got to match.

Plan B should not be Plan A twice as hard.

I see Mrs. D has gotten to you, too!!

She doesn't understand the complex algorithm that's inherent her namesake.

Plan E complexity = (Plan A+B*C) D2 (squared)

Yet, G is typically opted.....which mirrors A.

Maybe something like a little panel mount light placed in the upper side fender would satisfy the law and not offend the eye?

The more I look at it, the more the area seems to beg for a fixture.

That said and going back to plan A, couid use the Gs as signals and run a Federalized 7" headlamp with city lights.

Alberto's ex-LR.

"City lights" (what I've read them to be called)

Would that make yours a fine “City Pig’ and if it does would it still be able to hang out with our “Country Pigs”?

I think my attempt at responding to this disappeared somehow - bizarre!

Are you talking about these lights? That Final Pig was talking about?

Chris,

I dug these out of my VW stash. If you want them, I'll send them. They might help get it going, until you final paint. Even have the rubber boots.

I like those Corolla lights.

Ya can't take the country out de pig, even if de pig ain't in de country.

Appreciate, Ron.

I ordered a set off ebay about a year ago, when you suggested and can not find the things for love nor money.

Going to tear the place apart looking for those and the late back up lamps I know I bought, and can't find, this weekend.

I'm fairly certain they're dual function or dual filament.

Can you confirm?

There's also four of five model years of Hino's that have almost the same light size without the more pronounced ring.

AND.

There's a repro guy that can make any out of acrylic, if one could deal with LEDs.
