I’m learning valuable lessons with mine, never throw large amounts of money at a pig project thinking you can speed things up. You get covered in gear oil and other than a dramatically smaller bank statement it actually seems to slow things down, and besides, the pig likes it.![]()
Could've bought a newer vehicle, but there's no thrill in it.
According to ACC, an '82, but never could determine the actual assembly part number, due to discrepancies on DIY with my limited knowledge of notable external differences.
There seemed to be "US" and "non-US" variations that weren't limited to the rear output shaft or it's retainer/bearings.
I do not know how relevant any of that is....
Good. May hang tight for a few since Robbie insinuated he was going to be contacting for rod/main bearings.
Need brake lines and rear sway bar frame mount bushings, is all I know, at this point, since Ron has gratuitously gifted his longer links and bushings to the cause.
Mind if I ask what color she's painted?
Hey Dan! It is a tan Toyota factory color that came stock in some 70 series in other parts of the world. The color code is 4E9. Hope this helps! -Alberto
From Alberto's thread, a reply to the Shaman's same question.
Thanks
From this: To this: Wasn't sure if these would need to paint, considering condition, but think they turned out awesome.
I've actually been trying to find a pic of an all tan pig.
Huh huh, you said "ASS CO". That was cool! Sorry for the basic humor, but I think of that every time I I see my ASCO dials. No paint, the 55 dials were silver.
Last thing.
If anyone local has any take off part they've spoken for, please advise, otherwise they're all going to Ige.
If someone has asked for something and I forgot, my apologies. It's been a year of Mondays.
Nothing can be shipped, since I'm not asking Robbie to deal with, plus it would cost more than the free part is worth.
Still interested in the head, unless Ige has already spoken for it...
If the T&T is a short 81-84, it is no longer or heavier than the 74-80 4speed. It can hang on a stock 74-80 BH on stock mounts.
That's only 81-84 split cases AND H55s? Would that hold true for a '82 split case and new H55? (If that's just an utterly ignorant question, consider the source.....)
Chris, The H55 5 speed is longer than the older 4 speed. I like to over build stuff and would use a transmission brace.
You're on a transition there, you really need to determine what you've got. The 8/'80 - 10/'82 split case has a 34mm idler and no provision for a 5th gear oiler, the 10/'82 - ~'83 is the same with an oiler provision, and the ~'83 - '4/86 the exact same with a spacer bolt hole you will need to cap for a H55 swap. So you could have one of two cases knowing it's an '82, hopefully it's the later one else it's no good to youI've got a 10/'82 case FWIW - You can determine what you've got with this info: http://cruiseroutfitters.com/tech_split_case.html Tucker
:crying:
Didn't you buy this with the express purpose of using for an H55 swap, I can't imagine a vendor would sell it to you w/o the provision knowing thatTucker
I think you need to make the phone call tomorrow that we discussed.
Oh man - can you source a 10/'82-4/'86 front case half shell?
That just sucks donkey balls if you can't use it :-( Tucker
