Wasn't sure if these would need to paint, considering condition, but think they turned out awesome.

Last thing.

If anyone local has any take off part they've spoken for, please advise, otherwise they're all going to Ige.

If someone has asked for something and I forgot, my apologies. It's been a year of Mondays.

Nothing can be shipped, since I'm not asking Robbie to deal with, plus it would cost more than the free part is worth.

True words have not been said J Mack. I have learned this exact same lesson over the last few months
I’m learning valuable lessons with mine, never throw large amounts of money at a pig project thinking you can speed things up. You get covered in gear oil and other than a dramatically smaller bank statement it actually seems to slow things down, and besides, the pig likes it. :bang:

My thoughs exactly Delancy
Could've bought a newer vehicle, but there's no thrill in it.

According to ACC, an '82, but never could determine the actual assembly part number, due to discrepancies on DIY with my limited knowledge of notable external differences.

There seemed to be "US" and "non-US" variations that weren't limited to the rear output shaft or it's retainer/bearings.

I do not know how relevant any of that is....

Good. May hang tight for a few since Robbie insinuated he was going to be contacting for rod/main bearings.

Need brake lines and rear sway bar frame mount bushings, is all I know, at this point, since Ron has gratuitously gifted his longer links and bushings to the cause.

Copy sir. Best to just let Robbie handle what he needs from here on out.

;)

:flipoff2:

De nada.

It's a sharp color. I'm color challenged, but it looks similar to the FZJ 79s I've been drooling over.

Thought about similar for the 80, but appreciate the white entirely too much, and if I were going to change this Pig from OE, it'd be all white.

If you'd like an idea what a Pig would look like in a similar color....

That is incredibly helpful. I've actually been trying to find a pic of an all tan pig. Thanks again!

Huh huh, you said "ASS CO". That was cool!

Sorry for the basic humor, but I think of that every time I I see my ASCO dials.

No paint, the 55 dials were silver.

Still interested in the head, unless Ige has already spoken for it...

To avoid further jacking threadchaser's technically documented thread with my ignorance....

If the T&T is a short 81-84, it is no longer or heavier than the 74-80 4speed. It can hang on a stock 74-80 BH on stock mounts.

That's only 81-84 split cases AND H55s? Would that hold true for a '82 split case and new H55? (If that's just an utterly ignorant question, consider the source.....)

Chris, The H55 5 speed is longer than the older 4 speed. I like to over build stuff and would use a transmission brace.

You're on a transition there, you really need to determine what you've got. The 8/'80 - 10/'82 split case has a 34mm idler and no provision for a 5th gear oiler, the 10/'82 - ~'83 is the same with an oiler provision, and the ~'83 - '4/86 the exact same with a spacer bolt hole you will need to cap for a H55 swap. So you could have one of two cases knowing it's an '82, hopefully it's the later one else it's no good to you :frown: I've got a 10/'82 case FWIW - You can determine what you've got with this info: http://cruiseroutfitters.com/tech_split_case.html Tucker

Didn't you buy this with the express purpose of using for an H55 swap, I can't imagine a vendor would sell it to you w/o the provision knowing that ;) Tucker

Yes....

For sale: Early rebuilt split case, expertly powder coated, will throw in a 4 speed, to boot.

Local pick up in Boulder, only. No shipping, period. $1k cash.

I think you need to make the phone call tomorrow that we discussed.

I am, but the logistics and expense to return, if they will allow, might be too much of a loss to sustain.

Oh man - can you source a 10/'82-4/'86 front case half shell?

While I can regurgitate information absorbed, I am a technically challenged thinker.

I don't know if I can source, nor do I know that it's what I need, so please expand.

Spoke to Georg about costs to correct:

Late 38mm guaranteed core $450.00
Rebuild Kit with Koyos $235.00
Labor $400

I don't know if it's something he'll ship or an item if have to arrange shipping, but estimating it at $175.00

I'm sure there are closer resources and Robbie "can" rebuild, but need to discuss overall cost to do so.

I have two weeks before it's needed.

That just sucks donkey balls if you can't use it :-( Tucker

It does. I don't like the aftertaste.

I take partial responsibility for not educating myself enough to ask if they were apples or oranges, to realize later that they were, in fact, donkey balls.

Pisses me off.

Wanted to compile a real classified ad, in prudence, yet don't know WTF I really have enough to do so.

So the way split cases work all of the gears, bearings and races are more or less separate from the case. If you sourced the front 1/2 of the case, Robbie can swap in all your rebuilt goodies easily and still use the nice powder coated rear case half/output housing/PTO cover. You'd only be out the case plate, and possibly two seals (front output and selector) if they can't be removed w/o buggering. You need the years I mentioned to keep your 34mm idler that matches your gears and rebuilt bits ;)

Tucker
