They look stronger than the stock spot welded ones. Thicker metal and bolts through the floor, all adds up to better.

But sure like the set up you had from an aesthetics position, plus the current buckets have got to go and not sure what else may fit in their place....yet.

Thinking manual 80 seats are going to sit too high, but these may be modifiable to lower. Honestly, not my first choice since they lack an armrest, but they're locally available.

Also looking at FJC seats. They're low profile, have an armrest, plus my arse and back are used to them, again, all a temporary measure until a possible, later return to an OE-ish bench....maybe.

First, I dent a perfect front fender on the 71.

Now, this.....

Chris, did it pull through? Easy fix.

Thanks Bob.

Yep. The last three flakes of rust submitted to carrying a huge box through a 1' wide passage.

Fix it with a grinder, some flat stock, and a welder. Hahaha.

It was rusted out, obviously, and I bumped it about as hard as it'd take to knock over a glass of water, so inevitably an issue.

You can fix it. Start practicing your welding on thinner material.

Thanks Bob.

Practiced 162 times on the PP80....

Bahaha.

Have plenty of stock to pull from....

Doing this differently than the 72.

Going to do all mechanical from the rear main back, so I can drive the thing while the 72 is incapacitated.

Worry about the body work on this later....at least, that's the thought right now.

Have to fix the hood. The goofy drag style hood stays have got to go.

Hey, good news. That will feel better, getting the title. In the long run, you did it the right way. No questions.

Not yet.

Last communication was 9/6, a reply from previous string.

That time frame is very accurate, if not very optimistic. It took me 20 calendar days to receive a new title in my name from the DMV (transferred into my name by the heir of the deceased title holder (well, he signed the paperwork I got from the DMV for him to sign, I was the one who actually waited in line at the DMV...))

Still no title and no reply to my queries regarding.

That said, I've been busy planning and acquiring parts for, but no intention to begin until it's legally mine, which is frustrating, to say the least.

Trying to make a few decisions regarding this "build", one of which is what to do on tailgate.

A refresher, the OE gate is in workable condition, but does have a few flaws, probably easily correctable.....

I have a new, later gate that I'm trying to determine if I should run or liquidate.

image-883967515.jpg

It does lack the "Toyota" but appears useable, just torn on which way to proceed, so requesting opinions.

Personally, I don't want to alter much beyond correct OE form, but not sticking to a strict resto, since this will be a driver, so boils down to it being a better finished product using the NOS gate, or recouping expense to reinvest into any of the other numerous items this Pig (or 72) "needs"

So, keep and repair OE or run the new gate is the question.

Chris,

Look good at the used gate and see how bad the rust is, down in the seams, etc.

I like the raised lettering, but to have a brand new gate to use, would be better, in my opinion. You could always have the TOYOTA painted on.

That would all require the rear gate opening. Haha.

Haven't wanted to do anything beyond starting, at least, every other day, but growing impatient, so will tear into and inspect the interior of the gate to check out condition.

I know anything can be repaired and realize I should be less concerned about hearing detractors later on, regarding an incorrect gate, but all lingers in the subconscious when debating this aspect.

Chris,

you have such a great parts pile going, you should use the best on the 76 and save all the debating correctness, for the 72. To think of it in another way, it is cool to be able to Macgyver a wagon together and still be a Landcruiser.

You'll have enough head banging going on, over the 72. Keep the 76 simple.

Again, just my opinion.

If you only knew the extent that the parts pile has grown to for the 76, Ron.

I have laid hands on some of the rarest, coolest, incorrect components for the 76, that I can't even believe it.

Check this out, though I'm not using on the 76, since a 78 entire system will be ran. This belongs on a 40 restoration, in my opinion.

It will be a compilation, all LC, but different that a normal 76 Pig.

Little different intake, exhaust, head, carb.

OE AC sourced, mentioned 78 OE PS system.

Color and seat changes to the interior, all for the sake of a comfortable DDer.

Again, just my opinion.

You're right on the 72, though it does seem easier, since no real decisions to be made.

Opinion were requested and appreciated.

Dying to get started, even though the weekend of wrenching on a local's 80 was a humbling experience and it was rust free.

Have been advised by counsel to not touch, tow, or drive this, which sucks.

This has been going on since 8/9 when officially notifying seller that the altered title was deemed invalid and, after much ado, the last communication was on 9/6, in which it was stated that the duplicate title request had been filed and that it'd be ten days before seller received.

Since then, no replies to my queries regarding receipt of title.

Thanks Bob.:)

Chris, move to N.H. don't need one 10 years or older:)

Thanks Bob.

Supposedly, this didn't exist on dealers available inventory, BUT a 78 PS gearbox did, though costs more than I paid for this Pig.

Brrrrrrrr. Spent a year in Milwaukee as a kid and I am not a Yeti.

Is that with a bill of sale?

How do you prove you're the rightful owner?
