I have a 1982 with an OEM fuel sender unit, and these are the numbers I use to set up the DD ohms. The readings are very accurate.

I saw a video by ProCruiser showing an adapter ring that allows you to use a new GM sending unit and make it work, but I haven’t tried it yet.

update: I fought with the factory sender but despite all my efforts could not get it to work. Ended up getting a 8" KUS sender (about $50) which is rated for 240-30 ohms. The bottom of the sender is a little less than an inch from the bottom of the tank. I was concerned because it rest just along the side/ edge of the lower sump so the float doesn't quite make it to the bottom of the sender stalk. I tested it a few times and 1.5 gallons puts the needle off empty and with 4 gallons its right at 1/4 tank so that seemed pretty reasonable to me.
I did have to drill new mounting holes. It comes with a staggered 5-hole screw pattern which of course, doesn't match up but the mounting plate is heavy gauge so I just drilled to accommodate the tank pattern.

Do you have a link?

There were a lot of cheaper ones but this seemed to have the best reviews in the boating forums etc. I think its US made

I highly recommend the floatless sender from Tanks Inc. It’s a bit pricey at $125 but it is super high quality and very accurate. It also provides a very consistent reading without much fluctuation from fuel slosh.

You can get these made to custom length but you can’t modify it once it is made because it has a circuit board inside that spans the full length of the tube.

I installed mine in a custom tank so I can’t provide any tips for the stock mounting holes.
Did you buy Tanks model 0-90 Ohms - GM 1965 and up - T-GML? Do you have the early gas tank? I need to buy one for my 1971 FJ40.

I do not have a factory tank. Mine is a custom tank that is under the rear of the Cruiser.

Yes, I used part# T- GML-14. I imagine that you could use the same type of sender in a factory tank, but one that is shallower.

I did some research and found this ring adapter for the tank that Proffitt’s Land Cruisers sells, as well as this fuel sender that can work with the GM preset of the DD.

Hope this can help someone!
I just ordered This exact set up for mine . Lets hope it works

How are folks getting 17-21 MPG? I’m getting 12 mpg with a 6.2l LS and I thought that was pretty good considering that my 2F got the same and my SBC got 5-7.

Those questions are best for another thread but speaking about range, how long does it take for the DD gauge to give an accurate range? Mine constantly says that my range is 1-12 miles no matter how much fuel is in it. I’ve burned through two tanks so far and nearly 500 miles so perhaps I just need to drive it more?

@fireflyr, am I understanding correctly that the low fuel warning can’t be adjusted? 10% for me would be about 10-15 miles assuming that I probably will need a gallon or two left behind in the tank to submerge my pickup tube. It would be nice to set this warning to 15%. Thanks for the reminder about this feature.

I added a few pictures for fun.

Both of those features can be adjusted in the setup menu > lighting or display. I have the temp and oil pressure displaying through one of the group displays. You can have up to 5 different displays that you can toggle through with the momentary switch.

I figured it out. . all kinds of cool things .

Tons of options, and if there aren’t enough options, DD has been open to programming custom options for additional cost. I might send my gauges over to them to change the parameters of the temp gauge. My LS runs 200-208°F while the needle sits around 220, hence why I have the number readout displayed.
