The fusible link surprises me, cause when mine has gone (um 3 times now) it will not turn, click, or even illuminate any dash lights. Glad you got home safe john.

It was the white one with red line....go ahead and add that to your spare list.....what I've found so far by searching the 80's section is a short in the injector wiring at valve cover or in bundle near EGR pipe.....lots of fun to look forward to this week!

It was great to be back in the Whee!!! It was great to see everyone again and to meet the new members. I don't think we could have asked for better weather after the doom and gloom that was forecast it turned out to be another perfect weekend in God's country :D

I got home yesterday about 1pm and spent the next 6 hours washing, vaccuming, and waxing Mary E's 80 it looks as good as new.......... I was a little nervous when I saw all the pen stripes after washing it but luckly the waxing removed them all; now she might let me wheel the 80 again :grinpimp:

Thanks to everyone that came out to make this another great UC event; can't wait to get back up there!!!

....... and yes I am now spoiled after wheeling the 80 all weekend :hillbilly:

Update. one of my fuseable links was blown....rigging up a temp for blade fuses until I can order replacements and track short.

hmmm on my first trip to the Whee I blew two of my fusible links........ must be something about the Whee?? Good news is you can always just bypass them in a pinch as I guess you guys ended up doing in the end.

Glad you made it home under your own power John

Thanks for the help and parts Rick! I just got off the phone w/ Rick Arflin and ordered a new nut and bolt. The bolt I currently have took a good hit from a rock which I think started the nut coming off. It is quite FUN driving with a control arm all but dangling off.

Sounds like the bleed kit pulled teh suck. In that case I don't want it and I'm glad that it at least sorta worked for Landtank.

Hey guys, had a good time this weekend despite my cold. I'm glad we we're all able to help each other when the chips were down. I only wish cell phone coverage were better so that communications were better. We were working on Rick B's 80 at the cabin when Steve called and all we got was that he was down somewhere about 20 miles out before the call dropped. When we got Rick B's 80 patched back up, we went back into town and were finally able to get a signal and met up with Karl so that we could help him out. Luckily I had a spare shock mount bolt with washer and nut. The nut turned out to be the same as the LCA bolt. Don't worry about it Steve, I'm going to order a couple more things from RHT and just add the bolt/nut to my order. And we left the bleed kit with Rick B, since he was going to need it after the ABS actuator install. It wasn't the best fit anyways, we had to modify it to work on the calipers AND the MC.

Sounds like a great trip! Sorry to hear about all the mechanical problems...glad everthing was taken care of (or is in the process of getting fixed).

Remember those of us who were losers (for one reason or another) still need more pics.

Hey guys, I had a great time wheelin with everyone, weather was perfect, trails were fun and the company could not have been better. The trails were muddy and just enough rocks for my open 62. It was nice to get back into the groooove on the trails, I needed a weekend like this and plan on going back up in a few weeks, I found a better way to get there from my town and plan on dropping D off in Sylva if she does not want to hit the trails.

I left early on Sat night, about half way home I blew a tire (imagine that!!!) and parked right against the guard rail, and of course only had the whimmpy stock jack so it took about 1.5 hours to change the tire, I think it got too hot spinning on the trail.

I got the 80 bug, the 62 did great, better tires would have made it a little better, but I got thru some places I did not expect to. A local has a 94 with lockers he has been teasing me about, I am going to approach him this week, wish me luck!!

I spent 3 hours cleaning the 62, 1 of those just with the pressure washer and I got under it today and it looks like I never even touched the underside,,,,, I need to jack it up to get a better angle on it, I guess I will have to use the tractor and fork lift. oh yea I dented my front axel housing on the front side of the diff section, I guess momentum is good for some things.

John, good to hear you got it figured out, I was thinking fusible link when you died, (but i fugured you had plenty of help and did not need anymore opinions,,, sorry ) as that happened on my 62, a wire that went to the fuel injectors touched the headers and it just shorted out.

Rick, good to hear you got home ok, whew that is a long drive after a full weekend of wheeling.

Marshall, thanks for the transmission and parts, I guess I need to rejoin the UC, let me know how.

JP I will fwd that pm on the transmission/xfer.

Thanks to JP and Marshall for putting this together and everyone else that helped out. It was good to meet everyone, and put a few faces to mudnames, now I just wish I could remember real names!

....go ahead and add that to your spare list.....

oh, it is. The last one he popped required him to dig into my spare stash. So it's on the list to be ordered. :flipoff2:

JP, how did you like those tires? This was a perfect test for them.

We have a 100% water ban here in Atlanta. Can't even water an outside flower. The car washes don't allow muddy 4x4's. Hmmm. I decided to try to get into one real quick to give the underside and brakes a cleaning on the way home. Didn't get two minutes into it before the owner and a cop show up at my stall. Talk about a b*tch slapping. Turns out there was some kind of 4x4 mudding event somewhere right around where I live and these jokers (like I'm not one) were coming into this poor guys wash all day and he'd had enough. I convinced him that I was just a camper that came back from NC, offered to clean up the mess, which I was going to do anyway, and got a nice apology from him for bringing the cops down on me.

But... I still have a dirty truck and no where to wash it. Hoping for rain to get the mess off the sides so I can sneak back into one of the washers soon. I'm going to have concrete on my hands.

Next time I'm finding a place in Sylva!

Loved them!!! True to the TSL they DIG :D also I did not find them too skinny for the wieght of the 80 in off camber situations I encountered. So I am very please with them after this test run. They were somewhat noisy on the highway but nothing some good tunes on the radio couldn't fix.....

I will try to get some pictures up this evening

Bob got them from national tire and wheel (ntwonline.com) they usually have the best prices on offroad tires, but what I really like about them is they have a flat shipping rate of $50 for all 5 tires

we need some pictures folks!!! :)

On route 5 north of hickory road and south of 575 in Holly Springs.

Knee hurts, getting new meds tomorrow....what I am on now makes me high with pain in my knee vs. no pain.
