I’m installing Seat Belt Planet 3-point belts in the rear of my truck and trying to get it to look stock like in a US market 62, but ran into some snags. So I made this bracket.

I’m not sure if there would be any interest so I’m throwing it out there for the peanut gallery to comment on.

My goal is to utilize the plastic covers from a 62 to cover the retractors, and then use some 62-length cargo panels in place of the 60-length ones (hey, I already make those - convenient). The plastic covers have a depth of 30mm, but the SBP retractors are 60mm deep. The belt comes out 17mm from the edge with the attachment point for the bolt. A little math … I’m still going to have to cut away some sheet metal to get the depth right, but then the retractor’s fastening point is no longer in the same plane as the sheet metal. Meaning it’s got nowhere to bolt to.

That’s where the offset bracket comes in. There’s a pinch weld just above the wheel well, and the two smaller holes in each bracket will bolt through the pinch weld with hardened M8 bolts. The single hole for attaching the retractor will use the stock hardware that comes with the SBP stuff.

This is a lot to explain, and niche. It’s really only serving a very specific application - mine. But maybe other people want to go down this road? Maybe the brackets can be used beyond my specific application, but I’m not sure.

I haven’t test fit these yet, so I’m not sure if they need tweaks. I’m just fishing for general thoughts. So … thoughts?

Side note:

The LED-modified flasher modules are verified to work on mid-80s Tercels (AL35 model) as well. I’m betting these work in a lot of Toyota vehicles from the era.

It almost slipped by me this year since I’ve been busy with an engine swap and other things, but I didn’t forget: the 2025 Summer Adventure Sale starts today! 15% off EVERYTHING, no code needed, discount automatically applied to your cart at checkout.

Please note some items may ship after I return from Solid Axle Summit. I will do my absolute best to get orders out the door prior to leaving the morning of 8/1, though.

When do you expect to have more of the
Koito Headlight Upgrade Kitsfor Toyota FJ40/55/60? Looks like you just sold out this week

@Big Blu Hey there! I responded to your PM, but wanted to put the info here as well so others could see it:

I sold out of my entire stock of those today, all just in one day. I should have more coming in next week, hopefully by Tuesday or Wednesday. I’m pondering taking rain checks for the sale on these… updates to follow after I check some things.

I do have a new batch of the Fire Extinguisher Mounts if anybody’s in need of those!

Says later model ones are Sold Out?
I have one of the 1985-1990 brackets left! The website inventory on those should be accurate.

Looks like you are sold out for a 90 FJ62. Let me know if you do have one left. I could use it at SAS.
Yes, those went like hotcakes and I’m wiped out now. I will have another batch in mid August when we get back from Solid Axle Summit.

I’m wondering if I should open up the inventory so folks can take advantage of the sale, with the understanding that the product won’t ship for a few weeks.

I’ve been hesitant to do that on certain products because of how things have gone down with other vendors who built their business on long waits and preorders for their entire catalog, and then crashed & burned. Some products I DO already do that because I’ve figured out just-in-time logistics, and can have ultra-fast turnaround times (24-48hrs). The brackets take a little longer though.

What do you think @Vasopressor ?

Your observation is on track.
I would suspect opening up presales for all products could create hours of time spent following up on "sold orders", explaining timedramea and processing refunds. Just saying....

I’ve definitely been burned on that when I made a mistake on parts availability. Something where a constituent part was available the next day for two years, and when I go to place an order it’s suddenly out of stock - for the next several months with no warning. On the other hand it’s business, and we make the smartest decisions we can with the information we have. Or at least that’s what we should strive to do. I’ve seen other folks do “preorders” for a product that didn’t really exist, or wasn’t engineered correctly, or where they didn’t verify parts sourcing first. That’s more of a cash grab. That’s what not to do. I had a manager at a job circa 2009 that told me “We all shoot ourselves in the foot on occasion, and that’s ok - just don’t make it a habit of taking aim first.”

I can say with 99.9% confidence that the Fire Extinguisher Brackets would ship the week of 8/11-8/15, though. So if the current 15% sale is helpful to people and they don’t mind waiting until then … it seems like a calculated move with very low risk.

85-90 Fire Extinguisher Brackets are opened back up, with shipping in appx two weeks as soon as I get back from SAS. The only thing that would stop that is if the laser cut ship I use folds, which has a 0% chance of happening. I want people to be able to take advantage of the 15% off.
