Last day for the sale!

I shipped out most outstanding orders about an hour ago, and the leftovers are either getting delivery to SAS or know what’s going on. Still time to get 15% off!

Big week getting settled in post-SAS! I have day job deadlines and one kiddo started school. Today I found some time to work on CTP stuff…

New batch of ABS cargo panels coming in (at least two of you are waiting)
More Fire Extinguisher Brackets (shipping next week @Vasopressor)
Constituent parts for FLRKs on the way

* * * *
The big news I hoped for is kind of a dud: other than the single 62 FLRK prototype that’s been running in a local truck for a couple months, I had the very first one in the raffle at SAS. I had high hopes that I could personally hand it to the raffle winner (or whomever they traded it to if they didn’t have a 62) and make a big deal out of it with photos and such. I have no idea who won it though! I’m trying to track them down this week so I can go over installation with them.

Once the constituent parts arrive next week I’ll start assembling and getting ready for the on-sale.

A couple things to note:
1. While one of the connectors looks like the round 3-terminal 60 Series fusible link connector, the two are NOT the same and there is no way to modify the new production connectors to reliably fit. You will get both sides of the connector, and you’ll have to lop off the existing truck connector and crimp three wires. I wanted this to be 100% plug & play but it’s not going to be sadly.
2. But it’s still mostly plug & play aside from three easy crimps. The pigtail connector I provide will have wires color coded to match the factory harness so there’s no mix ups. There is another connector that is 100% plug & play, and the rest is ring terminals.
3. Some bracket refinements happened and it fits really well. No fasteners are included to hold the bracket in place because you’ll use existing fasteners. Screws are provided to hold the fuse box to the bracket, however, and they are Japanese made, JIS standard, and coated in trivalent white plating.
4. Expect the same quality level with Ancor 6awg cable, some Yazaki wire with some other very nice USA-made, high heat wire, Molex ring terminals, super thick adhesive backed shrink wrap, Flexo chemical resistant anti-abrasion sleeve, and most importantly reliable and accurate Littelfuse brand fuses.

Keep in mind that this 62 FLRK (versus the 60 FLRK) uses an additional 11 feet of 6awg cabling, 15 additional feet of primary wire, the box costs me double, the bracket costs me double, there are more ring terminals, more extra cable seals for the fuse box, and double the connectors, etc. It also takes about twice as long to assemble. Just the way it is.

That being said, retail cost is going to be $355.

I should have a few units ready to go next week.

I’m very interested in this as well! The fusible links in my 62 were hacked off and replaced with a bunch of inline fuses🙄 I’ve been looking for a solution to clean things up as all the original connectors are missing and it sounds like this may be it.

Please let us know when some are available to buy!

I know it has been a hot minute but any update on the FJ62 fusible links?
Had to change up the bill of materials for building these and reconnoiter the entire financial breakdown, all due to tariffs. I like using high-quality Japanese parts, and well ... that's not tenable right now, not without making the thing cost 150% of my target sale price. So I ordered a bunch of alternative stuff and tested it out before settling on my choices last week. I've ordered enough quantity for the first batch now. All of it costs more than the Japanese stuff I wanted to use, but I'm going to eat that cost increase and not change the sale price. Quality is almost on par with the Japanese stuff as well. I wouldn't use junk.

Dang that was what I was worried about with those tariffs coming into place and with the De Minimis going away :/ . Understand if the price has to go up due to needing to pay for quality. Appreciate the quick response and still waiting to get an order in, even if the price does go up

I quietly put these up on the site a while back. They're kind of an anomaly and the original release I had planned got kind of goofed up.

But wait? What is it??

But wait, isn't that a thing that somebody is making? Yes and no. I purchased a product like this but both sides broke after a couple months. After [insert long-winded story here], I ended up doing my own design from scratch to streamline the idea. Metal was the material choice so it wouldn't break. And then I added threaded holes so I didn't have to fiddle with bolts & nuts to attach the speaker. Throw in some white-plated JIS screws and the whole thing was easy to install and robust.

Two days before I was going to release this - after the whole process of design, prototyping, testing, and then ordering a batch of them - somebody else released something similar. I decided to hold off thinking it would appear like I copycatted. To be clear the idea isn't mine and isn't new, car stereo shops have had stuff like this for decades and people have tried to solve this problem for the 60 Series in different ways. At the time there wasn't anything on the market that a) was going to last for me and b) was a direct fit. I found myself sitting on a small batch of these things. I put them in my truck of course, and sold a few to friends at below-cost pricing. The timing of the whole thing was kind of bizarre.

So ... in the intervening months I've had several serious inquiries about these. I figured I'd get another batch going and finally put them on the website, that way I can get rid of the ones I already have and maybe get a few more out the door. The photos show prototypes from mild steel. Currently I have two pair made out of aluminum, which is plenty strong and will be what I use going forward.

FYI, these do not include the plastic anchors or screws for attaching it to the door. Those should already be in your truck. If not they're available from Toyota, check the EPC.

All of my stock is up to date as of last night. I had received or made some items that I hadn't put into stock yet. If you looked for something on the website and it was out of stock over the past week or two, check again.

I just put your Koito headlight kit onto my FJ60 this weekend; great setup and a big improvement over the crappy lights that were in there. Nice product!

Work on the first batch of 62 FLRKs is underway. I think I’m going to meter out a few small batches to start, maybe 3-4 at a time. It’ll get these out into the world sooner, rather than further delaying while I build a big batch.

Note these are mostly but not entirely plug & play. There are three connections from one connector to crimp. The splices are already crimped onto the FLRK end and the end user will need to patch them into their system at home. These splices are the heat shrink variety, so after crimping fire up a lighter or heat gun and seal ‘em up. I really tried to avoid this but it wasn’t possible.

Other news: not much. Plenty of stock on most products, and a couple early stage designs for new products happening behind the scenes.

Jeremy’s a cool tidbit: Bryan in New Mexico recently purchased a fire extinguisher bracket from me and had it powder coated. Love seeing folks take one of my products and do something neat with it!

Due to the way these are manufactured - a fab shop does some of the work and I do more once I receive them - it’s not cost effective for me to powder coated them. I wish I could, but the sale price would be pretty high and I think it’s probably high enough already. Keep doing cool stuff with my trash on your own though!

The 60 series deluxe tailgate panels are stock or 2 weeks like the site says?
I believe I have one left in stock, but let me check when I get home.

I have exactly one of those left in stock, in brown.

I’m sure y’all knew it was coming…

One of my few yearly sales starts today and goes through Monday. Web shop is here.

FJ62 FLRKs … keep your eyes peeled for the on sale soon. I will be doing a very limited first batch as I ramp up production. Those will be $385 and not 10% off.
