hi guys, noticed this crack[was glued once]
20230114_115820.jpg
see pic, i think ill just glue/seal it back as i dont think its super critical [ returning gases from the engin i assume]. any suggestions?
----btw-----, is there a place/link where the componants or modules are explained? the manual is not that great in explanation
thx

Air leaks in that area will cause rough idle and worse economy. Those rubber parts are 30 years old. They don't owe you anything more. Replace with new.

Those hoses are literally falling apart. The intake is a really bad place to have loose debris.

thx for the response.
The part costs 175$ before shipment... i guess glue will do

Engines cost more, but you do you.

it’s a shame the previous owner didn’t replace main air intake hoses and now you have to, but parts wear out. It looks like there are other jury rigged repairs that need attention as well. Not sure what that cable tie is holding together, but you may want to go over your engine and get honest about replacing worn out parts.

You basically own an antique car. If you want it to run longer you will have replace parts—especially the old rubber ones. The good news is those hoses are still available.

$175.00 for a new intake hose vs $3,000.00+ for a rebuilt motor when a grain of sand gets sucked into the motor.......

Or the hard rubber bits/chunks flaking off of the inside of the hoses themselves. That's not gonna do an exhaust valve any good if it slams closed on it.

In Israel you may have better prices through amayama, partsourq or megazip. But agree. Small price to pay to get another 20+ Years of service, peace of mind, and insurance.

We know replacement is the best option but money may be tight, happens to all of us, so fixing might be his only choice, at least temporarily??

One thought: disconnect that section of hose, remove from vehicle, wash it off, remove old RTV, clean with laquer thinner, then apply something like Marine Flextape cut in thin strips to surround/support the side pipe and provide a seal?? Then maybe apply a new coat of RTV??

Or, something like this:

FWIW

Partsouq.com is your friend !! replace them !!

Yep, this is my intention, the side support will make it last. Since it's a short and wide hose, I can verify no debris can fly off into the engine.

thx again for the advices.

For me, as there are no parts available and no owners of such vehicle this forum is a life line.

People all over the world sharing the same love and hobbies communicating and sharing thoughts and ideas. I guess there is hope for humanity after all

Parts of the hose itself can get into the engine. A hose that looks like that you tape up to get it home. Then you park it and order new parts.

You were provided with at least 3 vendors that have these parts in stock and can ship to your door. Please don't tell me you have "no parts available".

Dear Jonheld, that was my point exactly. in Israel i cant find parts but thanks to you and others on this forum, i CAN find solutions, that was a compliment to the people in this forum

AND i was wrong, this connection is important, if the little guy gets out of the air intake hose the motor will not run
I assume since this hose penetrate the intake after the MAF the engine get more air than the ECu planed?
ill be happy for clarifications
