What is the best method to fixing this? I've noticed the truck ticking more as I drive it and have traced it down to the y pipe in the V of the Y. I'm debating on if I take it off and weld it or if I go straight to a replacement. I'm assuming the original pipe is going to be pretty thin/weak to weld and will most likely just crack next to the weld in the not too distant future.

If I replace it I'm debating OEM or magna flow. From a comparison the magna flow Y joint looks like a bit better design with the brace and sheet metal stamping, but the OEM one made it plenty long so probably a toss up. Will the magna flow cat last a while or is OEM the way to go?

The Magnaflow might be more rigid than OEM - possibly worse because the vibration will affect it more. Are all your exhaust bushings good? I would inspect engine and transmission mounts too.
