Looking at doing some seam sealing on my FJ40 using Sikaflex 252 product below.
Anyone use this before? Always heard good things about there products.
It will be top coated with Raptor liner.

Sikaflex® 252
Sikaflex-252 is a non-sag 1-c polyurethane adhesive of stiff, paste-like consistency that cures on exposure to atmospheric humidity to form a durable elastomer.

USE
Sikaflex-252 is suitable for structural joints that will be subjected to dynamic stresses.

Suitable substrate materials are timber, metals, particularly aluminium (incl. anodized components), sheet steel (incl. phosphated, chromated and zinc-plated components), metal primers and paint coatings (2-c systems), ceramic materials and plastics.
CHARACTERISTICS AND ADVANTAGES
  • 1-C formulation
  • Elastic
  • Can be overpainted
  • Good gap-filling properties
  • Capable of withstanding high dynamic stresses
  • Vibration
  • Damping
  • Non-corrosive
  • Electrically non-conductive
  • Bonds well to a wide variety of substrates

Over twenty years ago I used DAP all purpose acrylic latex caulk plus silicone.
It claims to last 40 years and it hasn't come loose yet and it took paint well.
I have used it on other cars also with good results.

let’s see some pics.

I highly discourage the use of any silicone containing products on anything you plan on painting

Why do you want to use an adhesive instead of a seam sealer?

Use a seam sealer for sealing seams.

I think it has been more than 20 years because around 1992 I pulled the hard top on my 40 and painted it a lighter shade of blue and ran it with out the top until 98 when I put the hard top back on and painted it back to the stock color.
In 90 there were spots where the original stuff had fallen out so I dug the rest of it out and in my search decided to try the DAP caulk.
On my re-re-paint in 98 the joints still looked good so I just sanded, primed and painted.
To be honest on a close look just now there are some spots where the paint is flaking but no worse and maybe better condition than the original was at 20 years old.
Not the greatest paint job but the dark spot in first pic is side mirror shadow but the scratch is real.
I had to go back out and look when I saw it.

Sadly, all seam sealers fail over time (20 years..)

I wish there was a way to reproduce the 'bead' that you see behind the door on the rear quarter panel. Those seams always crack when you apply sealer, it seems. So many trucks with 'nice repaints' have a crack along the paint right where that seam is.

Use a seam sealer for sealing seams.
I already had the Sikaflex 252, but it looks like Sikaflex 227 might be more suitable.
Just want to use the right stuff, thanks Splangy.
