hey guys lets see you aftermarket hoods!

Hood scoops are for muscle cars that make serious power, which our trucks lack big time..... Now there are a few guys around that have some very well built motors with turbos or super chargers, but I doubt any of them bother with scoops.

You COULD be a poser, but...

Make your own, i actually thought about one when my engine wouldnt cool itself down.

make my own? and poser? wtf? because i want to add just a little bit more to my good looking truck your going to call me a poser?

Well, considering the TRD's have hood scoops-or at least a pretty good aesthetic of one, he is not so far off.

I don't know of any company making one for our years and I have never, I mean never, seen our years with one on the street. Not saying they do not exist-just that I have never seen one in any city I have travelled.

Making one might be your only choice.

hmm, i saw that thread awhile back, but i have seen pictures of the hannemann scoop that looks alot like the SE edition's but they all also have the baja fenders , and i want to see the hood with regular fenders

You could do what I did and just buy the rest of the car to go with the scoops.....but I fear that I'm moving a bit away from tech....:D

O MY GOD! thats some serious under wear sticky! amazing car!

I was just joking, but most hood scoops are for asthetics, and cowl induction hoods are for performance (mainly). I kinda want to put a sbc 350 in mine and cut a hole out for the carb/ breather to stick out of...

TRD's off-road models dont' have hood scoops, just the Sport models.

I see no reason for a scoop on the Toy unless you are throwing a 3.4 in it and need the clearance, in which case i'd graft either a factory scoop or and old style fake shaker (Fourwheeler did this back in the 90's on an 85) scoop.

Exactly. Phony hood scoops are for posers. Don't be a poser.

Check it out, the freakin Batmobile! It's like tearing ass even while it's standing still... :hillbilly:

how do you know i wont make this hood into a ram air or forced intake? i can, i just neeed a hood to start off with

Not sayin ya won't, but could you do a write up if you do? It's a lot cooler if it's doing an actual function.

well, the story goes, the cleanest and coolest air is supposed to come from the cowl. Since a cold air intake is bonkers to consider in a 4WD.

But I've been thinking of a simple way to get air from the cowl, that way you don't have to go through the fender. I've been thinking a simple say 2" cut in the hood at the cowl, then bend it up, weld the corners and make an air tight box for an intake. Sorta like a reverse LR series whatever....

Then just run a duct to the air box...

Been thinking of inside air to...

like this only backwards....

Here is the hood from hannemman Fiberglass for 89-95. It is very similar in design to the 96-02 factory sport edition hoods. It does serve a purpose if you cut out the hole in the scoop. It helps flow air through the tight Toyota engine bay to extract the heat, especially if you have a v6 or v8.

Right, the TRD Sport has the scoop and billsteins.

it wont cool an engine when it needs it most.... S-L-O-W crawling and high RPMs make heat and the scoop wouldnt really do anything until you were moving along at a bit of speed..... didnt we already decide this steve!??;)

I don't think we decided anything yet for sure. Its all sort of an experiment.

P.S. Sorry for the thread hijack.
