Hi guys, Josh here. As David may have told you all, Emma, Liam and I have moved back from Australia for three years. All of our stuff, including my LX and a bunch of cruiser stuff is due to arrive on Tuesday, 21 Aug.

It will be sitting in a bonded warehouse in Albuquerque costing us big bucks and I would be very grateful to anyone willing to lend a day to help us move- I know it is during the week, so I completely understand what a big ask it is. I can promise that i will return the favour when I can.

I need to get everything from the can into a U-haul as quickly as I can (because tey charge by the housr while we are at their warehouse) and then from the U-haul into or house in Santa Fe in no particular hurry.
There will be beer, soda and pizza for all those willing to help!

See you all at the next meeting with patches.

Cheers,
Josh

Sorry about the typos but I'm new to smart phones.

If you have a 40 Series rear Full Float axle, I am interested!

How many 60 series FF's do you have Josh?

I have at least 3 buyers for you.

I've got three 60 series full floats with factory LSD and two with no diff. I really need to get $1,000 with no diff and $1,250 with the LSD. I also have one 40 series LX rear diff with the integral handbrake and brake cable (ready to bolt up to a '79-'84 FJ40 or a pre-'79 by adding a floor-mounted hand brake lever) which I need to get around $1,500 for. It has about 15,000 miles on the diff assmbly (4:11), brakes and slave cyls. but the hubs will need to be re-built.

I have a 40 series disk brake front end which has about 20,000 miles on all new rotors, bearing, trunions, lug studs, hub studs and Aisin hub seals, RHD tie rod ends, etc. I'd love to get $1,000 for that but I am open to offers. It is the one from my LX and I need to put the 60 series cable locker front end under it before i can sell it. At any rate, I did not have to purchase that one, so I'll just be happy to see it go under a nice rig.

I also have a pertty much rust-free tub from an '82 FJ45 pickup (RHD, obviously). I'd really like to get $2,500 for that, but I am open to all offers. There is a bloke in Texas who wants it but wants to see it first, but it is not sold to him as I have no deposit.

There is an H151 5 speed/part-time transfer case with bell housing, flywheel, etc. for an 80 series which is sold but can be gawked-at if anyone is interested to see what one looks like.

I also have an H55 complete for a 1HZ with bell housing, mounts, clutch fork, slave cyl., etc. for $2,500 but I think that is sold... I'll confirm shortly.

I'm sorry they are so expensive, but these things are getting expensive in Australia and the Aussie dollar is worth more than the US dollar, so everything costs an extra 10% in Greenback money right off the bat. There is a bit of room for HDC discounts, but that is what i quoted others who have bought the items which are sold.

Everything else has sold already but there are a few other things in there which may be of interest to folks.

Cheers,

Josh

What, no half cut 80 series with 1HD-FT? Darn.....

What, no half cut 80 series with 1HD-FT? Darn.....

The wreckers had one, but I did not have the cash up-front to get it. I spent $12,000 on the container, and the half cut would have been au$15,000 (us$16,000+) so I had to leave it there...

The container just made US landfall: it is in Oakland right now, arrived at 0430 this morning. So far, so good. Now I just hope the Customs boys don't decide to do an intensive inspection and I'll be ready to unload on the 22nd.

Looks like my cousin can help too, so thus far I have two comitments (my Cousin and me) and a possible from Dan. I'm hoping I can get the can unloaded in about 3 hours, but that may be optimistic. The warehouse is charging me by weight and time, so this is going to cost several thousand dollars on top of the bloody shipping costs!:bang:

Next time we move I'm just selling everything and starting over.

Cheers,

josh

Loading dock?

Does anyone know of a loading dock I could use to unload in either Santa Fe or Albuquerque? I may be able to get the truck to take the can there and wait for a bit while we unload.... just a thought.

Cheers,

Josh

Motorcycle trailer

Hello again guys,

One more quick thing to put out there - does nayone have a motorcycle trailer I could borrow for the day when our can arrives? It's my BMW, so it is a big bike (7' wheel to wheel).

Thanks!!

Josh

Thanks David. It was nice to catch up with you and ashleigh tonight.
Dan, Ali, et al: the ship is in Tacoma now, heads to Vancouver tonight and arrives in LA on 15 Aug. All on track to hit Albuquerque on 21 Aug. The importer will let me know if customs decide to go through it.if not, I hope to be there to unload straight away on the22nd.
They told me $1600 more to deliver can to Santa Fe, so I'll be renting a U-haul and unloading there. Would one of you blokes be happy to drive the U-haul back to Santa Fe? Of course I'll drive you back to wherever.
I'll keep everyone posted as I know more. Thanks again in anticipation.

Never, ever do this to yourself. Shipping a container is endless frustration, expense and paperwork.

In addition to the $12,000 I spent to ship the container 'door-to-door', I am now told that I owe an additional $2,748 to get it to ABQ plus importer duties plus $1,600 (plus 'standing time' while I unload) to have it delivered to my house in Santa Fe (if I wanted to do that) or $550 warehouse fee plus $350 per hour 'warehouse use fee' to unload it myself in ABQ. PLUS transport fees to get it from the 'terminal' in ABQ to the warehouse which are a loading fee which no one can tell me an exact amount plus $8 per mile plus an off load fee for the truck in addition to the offload fee charged by the warehouse.

All-and-all, I am looking at close to $20,000 to have shipped my own stuff to myself. Never again. When we move back, I'm selling everything and starting over back in Australia. It is cheaper to simply post the stuff you really want to yourself and replace everything else.

So, to that end, I hope I can get as many folks as possible to unload the can in ABQ on the 22nd. Given they are charging me by the hour, the quicker I can do it the better. Beer, pizza, soda, chips, ice cream, etc. provided to all who can help out!! I will also owe any and all my assistance in the future with any big endeavours you may undertake (moving, building something, pulling engines, etc). Come one, come all, my gratitude will be profuse.

Cheers,

Josh

Welcome to my world now. Just got 3 Toyota Blizzards and a few MegaCruisers in from Nippon, and am getting ready to write a $220,000 check for 60 Conex containers.

Yup. A total nightmare.

Getting three pallets of my books from Singapore to here is a breeze compared to all this. It's a nightmare, but a cakewalk compared to this.

I bet Onur has it covered.

However you can help me unload my can and pretend that my LX is a Megacruiser. I'll even let you sit in it and make big-boy sounds while pretending it has 4 wheel steering, leather seats and air suspension.....:grinpimp:
