Container on hold
I just received a notice of Customs hold on our container. They are holding it in Long Beach to have a look at it when they feel like it, so i am now paying $275 plus drey and storage fees until they get round to looking at it. So, I am not sure when it will arrive here....
I'll keep everyone posted. Never, ever doing this again.

I understand. I don't hold it against anyone for not being able to help, trust me. I'm taking three days off to do it. Sadly, they are not open on Sat or Sun, or I would do it then.

Hi Isaac,
It is scheduled to be looked at sat or sun. I hope they get to it by then because its costing me a small fortune for storage and moving around.I hope out will be here Friday but I just won't know until it is on its way and they stop charging me storage. I'll keep everyone posted. Sorry for the delay.

Looks like they looked at the can today (Monday), so I hope it will be on its way today. If-so, it may be here by Friday, but more likely next week... Now I just have to hope that the Kustoms blokes in El Paso don't decide that they want in on the action and do another inspection. I'll keep everyone posted.

OK lads, it looks like it is all ready to go. I am trying to confirm that it will be at the depot tomorrow. As soon as I know I will confirm here. Anyone who can help will be hugely apreciated and anyone picking up their new goodies will be thanked profusely if you can bring any balance due in cash.
I'll keep everyone posted or you can ring me with any questions.

Probably Monday...
Looks like Hapag-Lloyd has lost the paperwork for our can, and then it turns out that they sent the work order to a trucking company which does not deliver to ABQ. Thus, it is probably not getting here until Monday, and perhaps not then should they send the work order to a trucking company in, say, Afghanistan.
If any of you ever move overseas, do not ever, ever, ever use Hapag-Lloyd for your container movement. They are bloody hopeless.

'Confirmed'
'Confirmed' is a word used liberally in the shipping industry, I have learnt. Having been an airline pilot for many years, I came to misunderstand this term in my life previous. I thought it meant 'I understand your request and I verify that it is correct as stated and/or will occur as you asked'. Apparently I was wrong.
It seems that in shipping, 'confirmed' means 'yes, yes, whatever you say. Please go away and leave me to my coffee'. Thus it was that the arrival of this container was 'confirmed' for delivery on Thursday night and then again 'confirmed' for Friday morning.
Now, the container is 'confirmed' to arrive at 0700 on Monday. I am a bit dubious (and I hope will be forgiven for being so) because this new trucking company lost the work order this morning (this time through no fault of Hapag-Lloyd, oddly). Then upon finding it, told me that 'oh, we have been trying to get a hold of you.... to which I replied 'you mustn't have tried too terribly hard as I do not have a single missed call, voice mail or email from anyone at your conmpany.' They did not confirm this.
So, to quote His Highness Jimmy Buffett, 'if we could not laugh, we would all go insane.' With this piece of wisdom in mind, I chuckle and tell you all with a grin that the container is 'confirmed' to arrive monday at 0700... may it please be so.
So, for all of you who are having items shipped from the warehouse, please ring Aurora and arrange it (or 'confirm' it, if you'd rather). They require cash, so if you want to PayPal the additional amount to me, I will give them cash on Monday, so long as it is all arranged before hand. Sorry to be so pedantic about it, but I will have loads on my plate that morning and will not have time to making sure that the details are all correct. I will make sure that the right items goes to the right person, but all of the shipping details are in you court - confirmed?

Thanks Rob, that'll be great. We can start at 10:30, so my plan is to be there with the Budget truck then. Aurora is going to ring me when (touch wood, fingers crossed, god willing and the creek don't rise) cotnainer arrives. I will pick the Budget truck up at 0900 and head down from there.
