I don't know what you mean by "new design", but for steel cable definitely use a roller fairlead. I have a old steel hawse fairlead in my junk pile and it's all grooved from steel cable. Nowadays, most of them are aluminum.

Ok cleaning time
Paint first
The truck has mostly original paint. So I soaked it with Mcguires #7. The key I found is to let it sit overnight and remove with a Terry cloth. I did this process several times on the exterior as well as areas of the interior. I was please with the results.

You could keep that divit in the hood from getting any bigger by installing a roof drip channel cushion, part number 63118-90300 still available from Toyota for 3 bucks.

The Toyota clips. They fit a 8mm hole.

Mine as well install a set of new Koito headlights while I’m doing all the front end upgrades. What a cost effective and major improvement , I highly recommend. Lots of threads on this one.

PO did lift and shackles w/o any castor adjustment. Truck sort of zigged and zagged.
Installed 4 degree wedges and had to lengthen u bolts so had some made
