LX started in '95 or '96...no LX's in '93

 Very true...;) Now to find a good hot wire for the cooler...surely in one of these two places I will find a good constant hot wire. Thanks guys.

Doug's right. Besides, the OEM cig lighter isn't rated for high amperage and continuous draw of many 12V accessories.

Fact. Bring lots of fuses if you wish to disprove this statement.

For the under console connectors, did you cut into it or find a matching connector. My guess is you had to cut into it.

A few more questions.

Related to that harness under the center console, was it unplugged as shown in the photo when you got to it? Or did you unplug it? And presumably once found I could splice the hot wire of the female end of a cigarette lighter type outlet into the hot wire in that harness, ground it and be good to go. Correct?

And, just to make sure, there's no available power anywhere in the rear cargo area, correct?

Thanks,

TJK

I believe the 12V constant plug under the center console was for the in-car cell phone - which is an option on the LX450.

Does this mean it is or isn't under the console of a Land Cruiser (non-LX)?

Do you consider this high amperage?

"Average DC Power Consumption: 0.7 to 2.7 amp hr"

Thanks. I'll look in my FSM tonight but in general how difficult is it to remove the console?

That was what I was getting at with my question, but if he had one under his 93...it had to be a LC so I would guess there is one...or more under there.

planning a triple-cig-plug hookup in mine too, looks like 4 screws (2 per side) are all that retain it....

I'm curious, if I can in fact find a lead thats always on under the console, and I wire in a 12V socket so I can use a cheapy fridge in the center row, how long can you leave the fridge running without completely draining the battery (I have a stock battery set-up at this point)??

Steve Smith says he left his refrigerator running for 18 hours in Texas with a stock battery setup (I believe he has a red top Optima) and the truck was sluggish to start but did start. Lots of variables involved though.

18 Hours is waaay more then I would ever plan on leaving it plugged in and the truck not running...... but this is good to know, now, to figure out IF that hot wire is down there or not on a LC.

67 Broadway, Asheville, NC. Big white 80 parked in the lot. Let me know when you find the wire. :D

That was a 43 QT ARB Fridge with an Optima Red Top. It was about 70 degrees out during the day and about 45-50 at night. COlder weather should give you less hours probably not linear though.

And when, like Steve, you pass out at 2 in the afternoon and wake up at 8 the next morning, your refrigerator has been running for 18 hours.... ;p

You bet! I'm REAL good at taking things apart ..... its the getting them back together in a working fashion that I have the troubles with :D

So lets see, there is only 4 screws, all I will need is a butter-knife and a pry bar, TJK I'll be right down there ;)
