Just got word that my cable locker axles are in at @joekatana 's place. Road trip begins next Thursday (hopefully), heading to @bdyer12 for a visit and to pick up parts for @ceylonfj40nut, then to Nashville to pick up and drop off parts, then to IL to see @Voodoocruisers , then Dallas to CD's place, then ??, then to Joe's for my axles and maybe squeeze in another 12h-t and a 70 series axle in the truck, then back to KY to drop off the 70 axle to Bryan. Then home to MI. Or something like that.

I got the bottom side masked off to prep for paint on the rest. Epoxy primer sealer is done on the inside (black) and outer shell (white). Hoping to paint tonight.

And painted! Came out pretty good. A few little things not perfect but stuff I can deal with.

Oh so cool!!!! Super stuff!!!

Looks Fantastic! Perfect antique white....not too bright

Supposed to be 033 white. It didn't look quite right at first but it matches the rusty parts/plow 60 nice. I think my shop lights throw it a little funny. I agree though, antique white is so much better than electric blue bright white!

I really needed the body and frame for Chunk out of my powder coat shop for quite a while because I just don't have the extra room and now that the body is painted, it is kind of like a china shop in a bull (?) with the madness going on. I am building different axles so for now the originals are getting quickie stuck back under the frame, and the body dropped on so I can store everything in my enclosed trailer. Problem was, without the engine and interior, it was too tall. All the air out of the tires and ratchet strapping the suspension down made it clear by less than an inch. I will take it back out when parts and pieces are ready. I think it will be great to install the driveline without the body anyway.

Man that body looks awesome Pat! I didn’t realize you’d settled on white. If you’re coming through Nashville only going to be two hours from my place. Would love to grab a bite if possible. What day will you be coming through? Happen to have a 60 rack made up?

Man, meeting up would be sweet. I've got some time constraints to work out but it might work.

Road trip started! Late of course. Buddy is ready too. I'm curious to see how long the snow on my trailer lasts.

Epic Man!!! Glad you and buddy made it home safe! And da goods!!!

Well, I ended my journey of 3014 miles. My cable lockers look good and will go on the list to get refurbished for Chunk. I had a great trip but I'm looking forward to a good night's sleep tonight!

It was nice to see @bdyer12 in KY (thanks for putting me and my dog up for the night), then @roma042987 , @Michael B, @cruiserfj08 in Alabama. Thanks Roma for helping me change the rear diff oil on my truck and letting me crash there. Then get to hang with @ceylonfj40nut and his family to visit the "Elf barn" in Texas and stay over night at the house, that was really fun.

CD went with me up to @joekatana 's place. Everything he described was spot on accurate and great stuff. I picked up my axles, a set of steel 80 series wheels, and another 12h-t/5 speed combo (because it was too good a deal to pass up imo). I had no idea what to use the 12h-t for...until now.

Part of my motivation to pick up my stuff vs ship it was to talk with Joe about finding me a potential project HZJ-73. Didn't have to go far, as we made a deal in one in the back yard! Needs an engine. Guess that settles where the 12h-t is going!
Now I really gotta get Chunk done, not simultaneous restos here.

The 73 doesn't look like much in the picture since the front clip is off from pulling the old engine but it has a nice solid structure and all the other parts I need.

On the way back I met Andy @Voodoocruisers and saw his nice shop and some great Cruisers he qas working on. Looking forward to October at his place for the SSS#2 (Southern Swine Soiree) with my fj55.

Last stop was back to Bryans to drop off his 70 axle and pick up some more 80 wheels as well as the 3" exhaust he had made for his 60/12h-t combo, now to put on Chunk.

Anyway, guess I gotta go back to TX in a couple of months, yikes.

Back home, everything covered in salt dust, yuck!

The 12h-t and split case/h55.
The case has a sweet pto on it, tempted to put that on Chunk. I dont have plans for a pto winch but maybe a blender on the front bumper?

Buddy enjoyed playing on real green grass!
And snoozing on the road
