any good leads for someone who can do a fair job on my entire exhaust? I have new o2 sensors but have to replace the muffler, cats , and likely some other leaks...so ...all of it....at 200k seems fair time....

Don't forget the 25% discount on parts at SCT. Not on labor, though, but they'll still sell you what you need.

Yeah, might be getting a few other parts from them, but not 7500$ worth of pipes

Try Denny's. He used to do a lot of custom hot rod stuff for the local crowd. He did a jam-up job on a buddy's El Camino several years ago. He used to work out of his shop at home in Indian Trail but he's listed in Concord too so I'm not sure where he's working from now. I see his number listed two ways 704-753-1988 and 704-793-1988. One of those should get him.

Great place in rock hill cirbo and i used. I will look for card. It was on highway 21.

Also I really liked manager of Midas on corner of south blvd and tyvola.

Bad experience at APS Muffler in Rock Hill

Took 80 there last Wednesday due to blowing out the back end of the muffler. Talked to owner and decided to have him replace all exhaust from y-pipe back and tuck the CATS flat for better ground clearance as well as increasing diameter of exhaust to 2.5" for total run (drops from 2.5"to 2" after muffler).

  • He initially told me a price of $600.00 to replace all equipment, both CATS, and O2 sensors. He called me up after I left it and said O2 sensors are more expensive than he thought and price would be $700.00
  • He called the next day when it was ready, went over to pick it up and pay the bill - was informed "cash only". note: VISA signage present and machine in corner - he indicated it hasn't worked in months and CC charges are too expensive (no checks either and no indication verbally or via postings) - had to run to ATM
  • Got in 80 to leave and notice "Engine Trouble light" illuminated - codes indicate PO130, PO133, PO135 (all meaning O2 sensor circuit failure). Reset codes and re-appeared after short time. Below thread will indicate "Bosch O2 sensors will not work in some 80s
https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/bosch-o2-sensor-debacle-codes.384436/

  • Took 80 back to APS Friday morning - owner was not interested in reading or looking at any of the reference material I brought concerning Bosch O2 sensor not working in 80 - said he doesn't believe any of the online forum crap and most guys do not know what they are talking about, blew me off and said he was too busy to mess with it on Friday and to bring it back Monday morning.
  • I took 80 to him this morning, he was a little less put off and said he would contact Bosch and look at it. He called me back and said Bosch said the O2 sensors would work and he was only willing to replace with same Bosch parts, he also indicated "his friend working at Toyota told him they would work", therefore he is not refunding my $200 cost for Bosch O2 sensors" I asked him if he would meet me 1/2 way since he did make money on the exhaust and credit me $100.00 to allow me to buy suitable OEM or Denso O2 sensors - again he said he couldn't take the hit
So I ordered OEM O2 sensors from Scott Clark Toyota today and will be putting them in tomorrow.

For full disclosure - I will say the exhaust system material and installation looks good and met expectations - the owners business practices and ethics are clearly short of minimum standards and expectations.

Anger:

Talk to the guys at Union Automotive in Indian Trail (Near the corner of Old Monroe Rd.). I just had the guy fab up a Converter pipe with 3 bolt flanges and it was very reasonable. He might not be a welding Picasso but he's thorough and is more then fair with pricing.
