Turns out I won't be able to put the battery in the cab there is no room behind the seats so maybe under the tray on the drivers side then put a lockout kill switch in the cab Along the way to the starter motor. I am going to have a look and a test drive of that bj42 on Sunday to see if it will suit what I want it for
We'll had a look at that bj42 definitely not worth $7000 more like $3000 heaps of play in the steering rust lots of body filler to join panels engine gearbox brakes clutch all good but to many other small things to fix as I need a vehicle very soon so I might have to buy a hj75 or a hzj75 ute for cheap nothing flash this time but might have to sell the hj47 stuck between a rock and a hard place right now money wise
Hey chappohj47, why did you mount the steering box there? and not use the early model 60 series and mount it just before the cross member so it gets hidden by the front apron/bib?
Watrob the power steering was like that when I got the ute definitely going to change it at some point lots of play in it any way really bad spot for it as it covers the frame number
So I am officially on the search for a 75 series ute preferably with a 1hz engine with 6 months or more of rego on it and no major problems just want something reliable that I don't have to spend money on for maybe a year or so
Budget is between $5000 to $8000 if you guys find any in nsw please post a link to it
Well it has been nearly 4weeks since my landcruiser was stolen so the insurance company has said it is a write off and has paid me out 13500$ for the cruiser and $500 for personal belongings that were in the vehicle so I have officially lost close to $12000 for the vehicle and about $2000 for tools and other gear I had in the back of it all of the lose is due to small print in the insurance but I suppose that's how the insurance company's get you
Sorry to hear about that mate. A mate of mine explained it to me best 'The job of an insurance company is to NOT pay claims.' Otherwise they'd go out of business. Pricks. Is there any up sides to come out of this Chappo?
Hey man just an idea, put a wanted ad on craigslist for one of the accessories you had on your 80. For example in the pic you have an arb bumper, so maybe put a wanted ad for a arb bumper and put a good price down in which your willing to pay. Maybe someone will call you, go look at it and make sure to bring a couple friends for safety, who knows maybe youll find your bumper-and then hopefully your truck. Perhaps put a pic of a 80 in the ad that has a stock bumper on it to mislead that you have a 80 that needs an arb.
In the Richmond area in 4weeks 56cars have been stolen in the Richmond Penrith area there have been 176 cars stolen in 4weeks so there is a gang in town looking for cars and sending them over seas as the cops haven't found one I them and I live in a good area as the local papers would only report maybe one stolen car in six months but 56in 4weeks there's definitely some sort of crime wave happening
I'm with White Stripe. I'd be working on schemes to track down these scumbags and make them pay for what they've done....
Edit ..... (after reading other input) ... but while the police have to prioritise use of their resources (and therefore often neglect auto-theft) they will certainly act if you supply them with concrete evidence of who the perpetrators are. (It is easy and doesn't put you at any risk to door-knock around the crime scene, put up posters asking for sightings/information etc.)
But if you resort to violence then I think you're no better than the people who did this!
Yes, on principle; giving the skunks some discipline would be very satisfying, but no, it's probably not worth the time in jail or whatever you'd get.
I agree on putting up some ads as bait, maybe on Gumtree would work. Also, if you have a cash converters nearby, you might want to keep an eye out there in case they cash anything in.
