whattt!?!?!

I coould not get those wheels to fit over the calipers on my front disc conversion. I had to take them back for a refund. They look great!

Flash

you guys got me scared over here...Tuesday is mount day and im really hoping not to run into any troubles!!!!

a little reassurance please!!!

do you have drumes all around or disc? you can make them work no sweat

Those are great off road tires. Are you going to do much highway driving? Not real good for that application. Good luck. If they don't fit over the calipers then you might have to grind on them some. They will fit.

Later,

beating the DRUMS

i got drums at all four corners but am super excited to get a disc conversion going sometime soon...just don't have all my tools here in LV...am gonna need some help with the purchase AND install.

mostly off-road use..thanks for the reassurance!!

drums your fine then, no worries, and when you do upgrade hit the caliper with a grinder no biggie and eay youll be totally fine and happy with those whells

Wheel and tires on!!!!

well i had planned on waiting to throw these bad-boys on but couldn't help trying them on for size today. keep in mind that i do not have my 4in on yet, and this is stock suspension at 40yrs old!! i imagine once the lift goes on, this thing could be 6in higher than when i purchased it....any opinions??

thanks for all the support while i decided on wheels and tires. im pretty happy so far!

I was thinking the same thing. Looks real good.

My son just got 12.5 X 35's from 4X4 for his built j**p and he was very happy with the price and service.

Are you sure there is no lift? You may not need one.

Those look very good! I have a set of BFG MT's in 33-10.50 and I am trying to hold out for a set of factory steelies and hubcaps but your wheels look very tempting and they are only a phone call away:grinpimp:.

Very nice choice. I think you will be happy.

Looks Great!

Do you have any rubbing issues as it sits? I like the size choice for those tires.
I have Buckshot 33x10.5's but looking into the tsl's. Like what you have there :) .

I don't want to lift this 40 any higher than needed. i want functionality, i am not going for monster truck so the less lift i need, the better i think. have not done a 40 yet so i do not know what is appropriate as far as lift. want full articulation and tire clearance with no concerns of rubbing. here is a pic of the rear wheel wheel and tire with what i am assuming is a no-lift, 40 y/o suspension setup.

So drive it diagonally into the drainage ditch and see if it rubs! Turn the steering wheel stop to stop, back up and pull forward, get stuck, stop pissing about! :flipoff2:

(I'm guessing it rubs the way it sits now and you'll need some lift.)

piss on this, :flipoff2:

im not even driving this yet. im not worried about it.

oh yeah

by the way....what is everyones opinion on cutting some of the inner fender off?? i don't want to hack my rust free 40, but an extra inch of so looks like it could afford to be trimmed..

here is a pic showing the area i am thinking about trimming under the fenders at the bottom of the wheel well

what do you all think?

i think you need no lift, 4 inch will look way goofy. dont cut anything. how often will it rub? once a month maybe less. youll be fine leave it

you are serious?? no lift?? i dont think i could go over a curb with rubbing these tires! im planning on driving on some challenging terrain with this 40..i don't think i would be happy or comfortable with no lift. thats crazy to me. but then again, thats why i ask..

Something to think about is the way you used the forklift to lift the vehicle and set it back down probably hadn't allowed the suspension to settle back down. I am just going by the one reply where you said " I haven't even drove it yet". I to think you need lift and as far as trimming it?? Me i am hacking the crap out of mine but yours is really nice and you said rust free and it is all about what you want! I think the four inches is going to be only a few inches higher than your first pic. Just my thoughts though
Either way that will be a nice FJ Ohh and what will you do with the flair if you cut??

Before and After

here is a pic of the fist day I owned it and another after i "used the forklift to lift it" and put the wheels and tires on..i don't believe the forklift had any major effect on the suspension. I spoke with the Orig owner again to day and he reassured me that NO suspension work had been done aside from air shock in the rear.
