March 1972 fj40. I'd like to verify that the best place to connect the idle solenoid is the IG terminal at the external voltage regulator. Correct? Secondly, is there supposed to be an inline fuse to protect the solenoid and if so, what value? Thank you so much in advance. This thing has been sitting in my garage for 5 years and I'm getting close to firing it up. Pretty excited.

Do you have a proper wiring diagram?

There should be a wire that comes from inside the cab that powers the ICS.

The fuse is probably one of them in the fuse block by your foot.

I don't have a proper wiring diagram and I'm not sure I'd know how to use it even if I did. Additionally, this old gal has been severely abused in her life and it's all just cobbled and makeshift everywhere you look. There are a couple of wires coming through the firewall that are loose and not connected to anything and since you mentioned it I do know how to use a Multimeter well enough to test them to see if one of them carries 12 volts and switches off and on with the key. Thanks for the thought.

Now we're talking.
