Driver side headlight frame

BTW -

If anyone has a spare Driver Side Headlight Frame in good condition I'd be very interested in it.

The original one was already cracked and repaired (not from this accident) and I'd like to replace it with a undamaged one now that it's all pretty again...

LMK.

Thanks!

Glad your 60 is getting its groove back.

what is the story on the old arb?
i'm looking for one that has been "beat".

Brian-

Right now I'm still hanging onto it until this is settled. Not sure what I'll do with once this is settled.

Good luck

did molle do the work on state line? i have a friend that lives down here that used to paint there. good luck with the Ins.CO they suck i still have and open claim from 07'.

Matt-

It was Jay Wolfe Toyota on State Ave in KCKS. They did a good job so I'm pleased.

Thanks...I hope you get some resolution soon. Mine continues to move at the speed of molasses.....

Take care.

Painful to see any damage to such a gorgeous truck. Like a lot here, this is one of those 60's i've drooled after and had as a goal building mine.

Glad everything did it's job and nobody was hurt. Bullbars FTW!

Not that i'm close to needing it, but would like more info on how to get an appraisal done ahead of time just for instances like this. My experiences (luckily few) with Insurance Co's has almost always been a let down... my insurance or theirs. With an old vehicle like this i know they will try to total it for the slightest ding vs paying to repair. So anything that sets the value correctly would be helpful.

small rant over - keep the pics coming! Always good to see your beautiful truck! And great to see it being made whole again.

GL!

Gil-

Thanks for the kind words.

I'm with you regarding checking into different insurance. The body shop manager suggested that I also get my truck appraised and then insure it for a "declared value". I haven't done any research on this yet but once the 60 is back up and running I'll look into it.

Here's another pic of the truck up on the rack...

Just living the dream on a sunny Friday when a mini van blew a stop sign...

Thank goodness for an ARB bumper! The bumper is toast along with the high-lift, but will have to wait until the body/frame shop guys do the final check.

No one was injured and the driver seems to be doing the right thing since he admitted that it was his fault to the Police Officers, so now it's just a matter of working it out with the insurance companies.

Any suggestions?

U win

Hagerty will cover a car or truck for what ever you say it is worth. The bill will reflect it. Call them and they will help you with every thing. By the way you will need a clean driving record.

I'll buy that old ARB ;) Glad you are ok and the FJ was safe

BritKLR - I just read through this and wanted to say thanks for posting, and I hope to see your rig around town when it is all done! :)

I have Hagerty coverage on my Aussie Falcons and Model T. Great coverage with stated value. Problem for Cruisers however, I tried to insure my 60 and they said "no vehicles driven off road will be covered". I explained that I don't do any crazy rock crawling, just expedition type camping...no dice.

Thanks for the recommendation and advice. I'll look into this once it's all done.

Take care.

Update - Sale of Parts

I want to thank everyone for your support, suggestions and interest in the rig. I also wanted to answer all the inquires regarding the damaged removed parts.

To reduce the number of PM's I'm getting, I thought I'd mention that the damaged/removed parts won't be for sale. At this time, I'm retaining all removed parts as potential evidence if an impasse is reached.
As many of you may have experienced, the Insurance company commonly requests the surrender of a damaged part in order to replace the part. Generally, this isn't a problem, but in this case and based on the number mistakes, misunderstandings, forgotten promises, oversights, failure to communicate, moving the claim from adjuster to adjuster to confuse the process (I've worked with 5 claims adj. and 1 supervisor now) and just the general overall impression that the "bottom line to reduce payout" is a priority over the state mandated "return the vehicle to pre-crash condition" requirement.

So, I'm hoping that it doesn't reach that point, but it's been my experience that it's always better to have the evidence versus trying to argue a position without it.

I hope this answers everyone's Q's.

Thanks.

Take care.

What a bummer. Did you research any other options?

Update

I've been in and out a great deal lately, so I haven't had an opportunity to update this thread and post some pix of the "New and Improved" BritKLR ride.

The new ARB and Warn 8274 got installed about a month ago, as you know the new ARB bumpers have 3 height settings so I've been playing with each to see which one will work. What is immediately apparent is that the new gen bumper has a higher approach angle and therefore I shouldn't be bashing into the rocks as much.

The 8274 is a really nice winch. It runs very fast and just seems to fit the 60 body style. I'm hoping to head to southern Missouri to do some hiking/camping and test it out.

As a fellow KLR and 60 driver I can say that's my worst fear on the Kow and my least fear in the 60. Glad you weren't on the bike!
