Anyone have an opinion on springs I should run to obtain as close to 2.5" lift with these BP51s? I'm running OME 850s in the front and 863s in the rear now. Truck sits level, but sags when packed full of family camping supplies and passengers.
You'll have to get either stiffer springs or 20 or 30 mm spacers for the rear. Most run the "J" series springs as they are longer and add a little more lift to compensate for weight.

You think it would make sense to run the Js in the front and back then? Otherwise I could keep my current springs and add the spacers? I'm pretty happy with the ride quality and looking forward to it improving with these BPs. I'm ordering this week.

I am actually running the 850J in the front and 863 in the rear with 30 mm spacers at all four corners, so I would recommend the J up front and running the 863 in the rear and maybe 30 mm spacers in the rear and 20 or smaller in the front so when your loaded it is level.

Also, you can run the BP shocks a little stiffer in the rear, doing so might change the handling characteristics of the LC. Stiffer springs, stiffer rebound/compression can cause over steer.

When I was road racing on sanctioned tracks I had the rear of my car higher and stiffer springs in the rear along with a 29 mm sway bar made for over-steer but I preferred that.

I'll take a look at this. I'm trying to find the balance of the optimum road manners and comfort on the majority of my seat time and then while camping with the family a few times a year, not bottoming out.

I am also thinking my current OME springs have probably settled a bit. They're about 20k miles old. But I have pretty much every accessory possible and two drawers in the back full of tools, gear, parts and oh $hit stuff. Full size spare of course on the double swing Labs bumper. Slee shortbus with winch upfront.

Another option would be air bags.

It's possible. I'd need to research this more.

Thanks for the input!!!
863Js have a higher spring rate so they are a heavier spring for heavier loads. Some find it too heavy when unloaded but I haven’t noticed it too much but I’m running a full plate rear with tire carrier.

I'm considering the 863J and going to look into some progressive springs in the rear and maybe a spacer upfront with the 850s

I've got Dobinson's springs on mine, as recommended by @cruiseroutfit 3.5" Front and 2" rear heavy load springs. I think it's about perfect!

I just want to say that my only complaint is how much a pita it is to adjust these. I really wish they were just a knob. Counting clicks is so much easier and keeping the whole shock body from rotating is seriously frustrating.

If you set and forget, and know the settings you need I get it... but I like fiddling with stuff too much

I don't disagree but people compare a shock body to shock body often ignoring the internal measurements, hence why its often called a 2.5

Give them a minute. 2.5" is about 64mm. They make a 64mm shock for some (a) applications, the 80 could come down the road

Just picked up these bad boys with a set of J Springs to go around. Sourced by none other than @cruiseroutfit - these shocks are much larger than they look in the pictures!

Does anyone have any pictures or where they mounted their reservoir in the front and rear? Trying to keep the fender liner intact.

ARB has a kit for these to mount the resi's

Here's a picture of what the front looks like:

I think they were an add on, but I don't remember
That looks clean.

Let's see if we get any other mounting input from the team...

Edit: Confirmed that is the included mounting solution when purchased as a package deal from Cruiser Outfitters.

BP and J Spring install going smoothly so far.

Sorry if I'm hijacking this thread with my install questions. Figured it was best to keep a single point of reference going for all things BP. I can start a new thread if that's preferable. Just let me know. Thanks!!!

3 Questions for anyone that can help.

1.) The picture below is the Driver side rear. (Haven't gotten to the PSR.) It looks like the reservoir is pretty close to the upper shock body. I looked at the measurement spec on the instructions, but if I try to accomplish that it actually touches the shock body. Can someone advise on their setup?

2.) I placed the included washer/mounting hardware on the lower shock mount as described. However this pushes the very short lower shock bolt just barley to far from grabbing the threads. From what I can tell. Have any of you been able to use the OEM bolt and still kept the two large and one smaller washer on the backside as per the instructions?

3.) Regarding the the brake line extensions for the front. I understand how the extension works, but there is a brake Hardline that needs to be pushed quite a bit to make this extension work. Did everyone install this and how did they deal with the hard line? @reklund5 I see you had the same question. You mentioned that you massaged the bracket to make it work. I was concerned about the Hardline being bent too much.
