I'm interested in getting a air to air cooler, I know the Aussies have more experience in this area. Is their a kit that someone makes down under that fits or that is close enough to make fit. Not afraid of fabrication just want a cooler that fits and basic piping, I can make the rest. We don't need to get into a debate on A to A vs. A to W, going for simple. Thanks for input

There’s a thread here about a top-mount A-A IC w/ a WRX hood scoop. May have been for a supercharged rig, but I was wanting to go that route. Ended up A-W though and I’m happy. 1FZ is happy too.

You might be able to order the Safari diesel intercooler. It looks the same as the intercooler they packaged for the gas turbo application.

This is pretty easy to cobble together on your own. The easiest type of intercooler to fit will be one with the inlet and the outlet both on the same side so you can run the pipes all on the passenger side. If you have dual batteries or york OBA, this gets a lot harder. Look at the 1fz-fe Safari intercooler setup for inspiration and routing ideas. A more traditional intercooler with inlet on the passenger side and outlet on the driver's side is also possible, but will require a lot more tetris skills and fab.

Ideas:

Safari (this is actually their 1hd setup, but the 1fz setup is similar in layout)

@omergin this is the slickest intercooler setup I've seen, but the intercooler was built with custom end tanks to fit perfectly. Could get pretty close to this with an off-the-shelf intercooler:

@Wheelingnoob with a particularly well-executed opposite-side FMIC (for a 6bt, but his thread shows you how to get your pipes through the radiator support)

And if you're a redneck, this is my old intercooler. Won't really work with the wits' end kit because of the factory air box. Point being, all you really need to do is stare at the engine bay for a while and get creative. :hillbilly:

Thanks input, I guess I have some reading to do.

One thing to remember is that they did do a forged bottom end on this truck. My truck has a lot of room for more power but I keep timing really tame to keep the stock rods from leaving the block. lol.

I have read the last few pages. One quote from Wit is that “i have more orders than I plan to build”. Does that mean that once done they won’t be sold, or just a statement that he/shop is overloaded and doesn’t want to talk about it. (Which I get). I assume the latter. .

Welcome!!! Mud is full of great knowledge and is built very well. Search bar is your friend cause chances are someone, somewhere has already done or thought about it. To answer your question, its a combination of everything really. My understand on the matter, the turbo kit for joey has been an endeavor that has proven to be a wash in that the amount of effort and stress required well surpasses the return of investment of the project/ each order. Which is a real shame, because he has done a fantastic job! Cheers!!

Thanks for the response but I must admit I can’t tell if this is a yes, no or maybe to my question. . All good.

And I used to live in Beaver Dam as well as Ashland. Long time ago. . . .

He hasn't made a final declaration regarding the kits future and when it will be discontinued, but I do believe that it will be once all of his current orders are fulfilled. Sadly!

That is too bad. Thanks. Could always open source the parts list if dropping it entirely . Someone else might pick it up. Either way cool kit.

Out of all the options, this one has zero chance of happening.
Can you even imagine?!

"@NLXTACY can you please help?? I haven't heard back from the new vendor in two whole weeks!! I know you have absolutely 0 to do with this project now and have nothing to gain but can you help me??? What do I do??...Wait why haven't you responded to me now!!! No one wants to help me after all of the money I am spending?? Wow you suck and so does he this is truly crazy!!!"

What I could see most likely happening would someone taking his kit and building an homage to it, of sorts! Cause frankly, at least in my eyes, that is the ultimate compliment to a great product. My 2cents.

I have learned 2 things from this thread.

1. Many members apparently don’t understand how you or any business for that matter makes money.

2. Many members don’t understand that if a product has a good margin and minimal bull**** to deal with… you just might continue to make it.

🤯

I’m going to assume you aren’t referring to me. I own and run 4 businesses, 2 are fabrication based. Very complicated stuff small and large. But it’s the internet so I shouldn’t assume anything. All good in the end.
