Hit a Sandy corner at speed or when it's wet. There's a reason full time is available on more expensive vehicles. I agree it seems silly 90% of the time but 10% of the time can be the time that counts.

I've inadvertently drifted on gravel roads on accident and completely SHAT myself on rear wd mode. My daughter did the same thing as she was learning the art of driving on dirt roads on a shelf road, in which case we both totally SHAT ourselves

@NLXTACY

Are downpipe and banana hammock blankets in stock?

The last of both went out with the last order on Monday. I’ll be placing another stock order in a few weeks as I get more caught up.
Glad you are still making em' Thank you.

Banana what? s***, did I miss something important? Let me go check it out......

FWIW, I'd always suggest driving around for a while with front shaft out and CDL locked, including in the wet on bitumen before going to the trouble of ordering and/or installing a part time kit. I drove my 80 for 2 weeks like this and decided not to order the PT kit after all, made it drive like a patrol (and if I wanted that, I'd buy a patrol)

IMHO the 80's good road manners even with lift and tyres is at least partly because of the full time 4x4 system

I totally agree. They drive very differently with FT disabled, especially in rain and snow. With the FT enabled, they are extremely stable on the highway at speed.

Off road, it's not a lot different.

All good input...but my PT kit will be unlike other PT kits. More to follow this summer 😉 Thread hijack over

Show me some more turbo runs!

In other news, finished up a customer’s install today and did it’s maiden voyage…to the gas station 🤣

I am late to the show so my apologies if I am asking repeated questions. Ok so I followed your instructions for my electrical install and have been extremely happy. I have slowly been working my way down my wish list which for the most part is pretty tame and mild with extra power, second battery, dual monitoring system but now here I am yet again at one of your mind blowing creations and trying to wrap my mind around it.

so Your website says these turbo kits are sold out but do you expect to continue selling the kits? do You do installs of the kits?

correct. I’m not taking any more new orders. I have to get thru the back orders. The only way to get one is to take over someone else’s spot. I’m sure there is someone that can’t/won’t wait any longer and wants to give up their spot.

For anyone else following this thread I am looking to buy a turbo kit in case anyone doesn’t need theirs anymore.

See post right above yours #5753

For anyone following this post I am still looking to buy a turbo kit. 96bruizer Sold his to The first person to wire him money and not the first person that was interested 😕 unfortunate for me but lucky for someone else. Personally I would love nothing more than to buy directly through NLXTACY so if anyone wants to process the exchange via that route than I would prefer that method, if he were willing to work with us.

I am happy to say that I will have a chance to see one of these local that is already installed. This is all still very new conceptually for me so I still have a lot of questions. I know that i am going to need someone that can install this and probably need to replace the radiator at the same time. I don’t have a snorkel and I guess my big question is… is it the most optimal to do an engine rebuild at the same time? Our engine now has 210k miles on it. Thinking about all of this work just makes me slightly unhinged as it seems like such a daunting endeavor. constructive and experienced feedback is appreciated.

Another question is how Long do the stock engines last? How many times can they be rebuilt vs doing a complete engine swap? it’s my understanding that the LC 80 series engine can be rebuilt up to 3 times is that true? I am trying to understand that if for whatever reason if something catastrophic happen and an engine swap needed to happen could the turbo kit be transferred Over?

Not to start any drama, but each person that contacted me got the same immediate reply. I wont hold the turbo for anyone unless they tell me they do want to purchase it and they just need some time to get to the bank. Snobud said they are interested but need to see it first, within 3 minutes of that message I had someone who said they want to purchase and they have the $. had snowbud said they want to purchase and they will upon seeing it, I would have held it. Please understand, I've been running a business for 17 years. 90% of my calls are people that are interested, but never do business with me. I dont mean anything rude by this, its just a sales transaction to the first person who said they are committed to buying it. People that are interested, dont necessarily mean they are buyers. I wish you luck on finding one though. @Snobud , you are still more than welcome to drive up and check it out, come wheeling with us sometime

for anyone following the thread I am no longer in need of a turbo kit! It Has worked itself out.

@96bruzier my apologies no ill will meant as I was trying, poorly obviously, to emphasize someone got lucky with your turbo kit! And more importantly that Your turbo had sold. Also l get lucky in a different way by being able to see your install! It’s crazy that you went in and did all of that install and work with your friend. It’s not often that there is someone close by that has a LC and has first hand experience and is willing to show that off! We had to go down to the overland expo to see similar rigs and set ups before I started doing my electrical and I think I would have to join the MOAB LC group to see more rigs and even then it would be a crap shoot if anyone had this turbo already installed. the video is great but nothing beats getting to see something in person So thank you for being willing to share that Experience.

it is a sad truth that I have Jumped head first down the black rabbit hole that is absolute wits end Products And tutorials. I have only myself to blame But on the flip side everything is working it’s self out Because let’s be honest here NLXTACY is kind of like a Jedi master. So thanks to everyone And especially NLXTACY!

I've come to the conclusion that I need to make THIS thread the only place where I update folks on turbo orders. I just got kicked in the nuts very hard and now I'm getting pissed and again for things beyond my control. I am purposely not going to answer questions asked via email or text or IG or FB. Questions should be asked here where EVERYONE can see them IN THEIR ENTIRETY and I will deal with them here as I get time. There are plenty of folks running these at this point that others can now answer questions that I continually get asked but I just don't have time for. This kit is just ONE part number of over 300 parts that I manufacture now.

If you have not been contacted directly by me, your kit is not ready and I DO NOT have an accurate date of when its ready. Continually hounding me on every form of communication available will NOT change the answer. I turned off pre-ordering on the site a few months months ago. I have just over 20 people hoping to get a spot but I haven't opened up anymore. If you are tired of waiting let me know and I will cancel your order and let one of the other interested parties take over your spot. Once you cancel, a spot will never be opened up for you again.

Why I am all of a sudden turning into an a****** on this? Simple, I was texting with a turbo customer. I was being even more transparent with him than I have been on here. He was very friendly and just liked chatting. All while I helped him, over the phone, try to solve a myriad of his 80 issues. Well he decided to relay a SNIPPET of one of my texts, without ANY of the context supporting it, to another turbo pre-order customer. That customer of course takes that snippet out of context and starts down an emotional tirade that I can't understand because I don't know what he's talking about. He then tells me that he has "inside info" about the status of the kits. Well, umm...NO ONE has inside info but me. He finally details that he got this info from the other turbo customer I have been friendly conversing with. This is where I learn that he was spoon feeding tidbits of our discussions. He was an absolute idiot and later realized he didn't relay the entire story. It was too late. Damage was done because he cancelled the order.

Two turbos shipped out two weeks ago. One kit shipped out on Yesterday. Another one goes out tomorrow and another on Monday. They are going out but NOT quickly and in no planned timing. As stuff arrives I ship. Everyone is shipped out in the order you placed it. Period. Will NEVER change and I WILL NEVER deviate from that. In fact the ONLY time a kit doesn't go out IN ORDER is if the recipient asks me to hold the order. This happens quite a lot. If you have not been contacted by me, its NOT ready. When will it be ready? I don't know. Why don't I know? Because I'm not going to relay bad info anymore. I've been trusting my vendor's timelines and I've been screwed and look like an idiot every single time.

Goal #1 is to get you your order
Goal #2 is to not look at turbo orders again
Goal #3 is to deal with less stress and work at PetSmart cleaning hamster cages

CARB...
I cannot discuss anything that has anything to do with that pile of s*** company I was previously working with. Period.
Until I can locate an aftermarket emissions lab AND CARB starts working with the little guys again, the certification plan is still on hold. Not dead, on hold. Period. I have nothing to add to that.

If you are a current CA resident with a turbo kit installed and you need the turbo permanently removed to smog your truck, I will pay to have it removed and I will refund your kit and sell it at full price on the used market because I have FAR more people that want it than I have plans on making them. Everyone that has been following this thread knows full well the absolute hell I've been going through trying to make this happen. I have done EVERYTHING in my power to make it happen. Not one person can claim otherwise.

In case you are not following me on IG or FB, here is the order that left on Yesterday:

For those that don't understand the stress of getting these kits out, keep in mind that the VAST majority of components that make up the complete kit were paid for a very long time ago. When a refund happens I can't just send those pieces back to the vendor. I have to sit on them. Having paid orders means I have the funds to purchase. Its buying power I won't/don't have without doing pre-orders. A cancellation/refund means I have to pull those funds out of my ass. Its spent on components and machining and other parts and processes. Sometimes I will get a customer that asks for a refund on the same phone call where I'm telling them their kit is shipping and is the address still accurate. Everyone down the line wins because its one less person in the line. But I lose big time. I'm not going to do that anymore. Now its getting shipping and if you need to return it, sell it on MUD classifieds where I 100% guarantee it'll sell within the hour.

This is a snapshot of turbo orders. The black means its a refund. The bottom blue spot if a customer that asked to push out his delivery because he is active duty military and won't be back til Nov. The upper blue is just waiting to ship on Monday because he won't be in town.

@NLXTACY I would just like to know that I'm on a list somewhere. I'm committed to waiting unless someone wants to buy my place in line for $20,000 or so. That's what an LS swap would cost and that's the only other option I would consider. *EDIT: bad joke. keep your 20 grand! I'm gonna have a turbo someday, can't wait*
