yeah this turned into a tire build instead of a land cruiser one. I'm just paranoid about tires from previous experience. Big Red can do about 75 on the highway, so a blowout is bad news. The meth injection is good. It doesn't necessarily drop the egt, but it holds it and it gives a noticeable boost in hp. After I install the rest of the mag run flats I'm hopefully done messing around with tires for a long long time.

I hope they work well FOR A LONG TIME FOR YOU! What would you say the meth has reduced/held the EGTs to? Holds at approx. what temp, compared to where it would climb before?

i have the lowest nozzle in there because I don't want the engine to quench when i need it the most. It also depends on what boost setting you have the actuator turned to. I've been playing around and found that so far the 12-14 psi setting works best for me and is optimal in fourth gear. it can hold the temps around 1000 to 1200 doing 70mph but you can hear the turbo scream and feel the extra hp. I use it to pass semis on the highway mostly. with the larger nozzles it was choking and puffing white smoke when I kicked it down to pass, so ultimately countering what I want it to do. I'm still experimenting to see what the best setting is, but no regrets on the meth kit.

EDIT: I should say it gets it up to speed much quicker and it takes longer to reach higher temps than it used to.

Just got back from taking it around the neighborhood and down some lonely roads. For some reason the tires no longer have that slight vibration they used to until the beads balanced out. I suspect because the inserts took away from the volume inside the tires that the beads have to spin on the outer edges beginning at lower speeds. I'm pleased with how this rig is turning out. It picks up speed faster than before and can handle 75 mph on the highway.

My next to do list is chromoly axles, lockers and eventually a larger intercooler. The cruising temps arent bad now, but they can be better.

Got all runflats in. For some reason the inserts are way easier to get in the BF Goodrich tires than they are with the Goodyear tires. hopefully this is the last tire related work I do for a very long time.
Now time to watch some boxing

Not Toyota tech, but still in the Japanese toys category. Decided to take the bike out for a spin. Quickly realized there's a short somewhere. It kept engaging the starter and would shut off then start again. Time to take it apart and decided it's also time the beast got an overhaul.

So this guy shows up to work today. Build his jeep by himself before Jeep made a 4 door. I sat in it, the rear has so much leg room.

The engine is stock, but he might be upgrading soon.
 
There used to be a Jeep place in Fredericksburg that did that very conversion. Looked exactly like that. They do look odd.

According to this guy, his dad owned the place and sold it right when they found out jeep was coming out with a 4 door of their own.
 
Ok last update on the mag runflats. Took it out for a spin, all 4 tires now have the inserts, you can't feel them and somehow my imbalance issue is solved. Highly recommend.
 
Are they lighter than the rubber runflats?
They feel lighter, though I didn't actually weigh them. To be honest with you if you already have the rubber ones in, it wouldn't be worth the hassle of taking them out, sourcing mag runflats and then installing them. Plus the rubber ones seem like they can absorb an impact better and still have slightly better grip.
