Lol I haven't called it that in months, Thanks for the reminder. Putting in a new belt tensioner this evening then I'm taking the week off of spending on it.
Will be getting a second battery tray and thinking of a larger deeper air box next.

Oh before I forget, I just came back from picking up some parts from the Cummins dealership. I asked about their 4bt rebuilds on display, they are going anywhere from 8k to 12k according to their parts guy. That's twice as much as I thought their highest price would be. So if anyone who is reading this and is thinking of putting a Cummins in their Toyota don't go to the dealership. It's 3 or 4 times cheaper to pull it from a bread truck and fix whatever it needs yourself than buying it from Cummins.

ok it's a few days late because of the weather but here is the first impression.
The 4k governor springs are the single best thing you can do to this engine, I can't believe I waited this long to get them installed. It feel like I just gained 80 more horses. It's very fast off the line and I can actually keep up with traffic when accelerating instead of slowly building up the momentum. The engine does have a different noise now, a mix between a hum and a deep whine. It's not a bad noise per say it just catches you off guard at first until you get used to it.
The EGTs are equal or better than before, the freezing weather might be a factor in this so I'll revisit it later. However, since the lower gears can revv higher and get more speed, I'm running lower EGTs. In some instances they sat where they normally sit on the highway, but that may be because I floored it in 5th gear.
The turbo now spools to 20+ PSI with little effort, I can even do that at a stand still. It used to be like pulling teeth to get it to beat 11PSI while moving.
Interestingly the oil pressure dropped by 10 PSI since installing the remote filter, not sure if that's normal or not. The engine now takes a total of 11 quarts, 10 in the engine block and one in the oil filter and lines.
Another remarkable improvement is the transmission. I had previously installed Mobil one synthetic 75w90 in the NV4500. It worked well but the shifting wasn't smooth, it shifted like a bus would. I assumed that was normal since it's a heavy duty transmission. When I read up on other forums that the transmission needs a very specific oil, I decided to change it. I went with the compatible AMSOIL oil with the nv4500 specific rating. It now shifts smoothly, almost like a race car except with a longer stick ( feel free to read into it
). Had to install a new belt tensioner and the belt is a bit frayed so I might need a new one.
On the highway coming back home I was able to race a bit and pass up some cars with confidence and ease, I think I'm falling in love all over again with this rig. I still have a ways to go to get to where I envision it to be, but for now I'm quite pleased.
Next is the second battery tray and a larger air box, then I think I'll call it quits until next year.
I'm sure I'm forgetting something so I'll post up if I remember it.

That whine you hear is coming from the hoses/remote oil filter. I got the same sound and also noticed slightly lower oil pressure.

I missed the oil comment on the first read through as well. I thought we were only supposed to run the RAM (Dodge/Chrisler, whatever) specific fluid?

I wish i took a picture of the back, it is specifically formulated for the nv4500. I looked into the castrol syntorq which is recommended for this transmission, I was only able to find its equivalent at the dodge dealer and they wanted my kidney as a down payment. I haven't read anything negative from the folks who use AMSOIL in their transmission and since it's specifically made for this tranny I was comfortable with it. So far it's made a big difference in smoothness of shifting.
forgot to add, it's supposed to be a GL4 oil and safe for the brass components

it's on the list with the battery tray. So basically after Thanksgiving but hopefully before Christmas. This sucks, I paid $200 for a kit where I'm replacing the core components and paying to have a bracket made.
I searched around a bit and it looks like Dodge specs out Castrol Syntorq. The Amsoil MT90 stuff is their equivalent.
Mike, I have had good luck with these guys with fittings/hose. They're up near my house on 183/Anderson Mill area.

I ought to change my transmission fluid so I'll swap it out for this Amsoil stuff. Thanks for the reco guys!

Since I have your attention, I need your input. I've been debating on whether or not to relocate the power steering reservoir and moving the primary battery and co-locating it with the secondary one that I'm planning to install.
This would allow more space for a larger deeper and slightly wider air box.
The main reason I want a larger box is to protect the filter from the rain. As it is now under heavy rain some water gets in from the snorkel and pools up under the filter which sucks up some of it.I've mitigated that issue by turning the snorkel head around, but I don't like having to do that just because it's gonna rain. My plan is to have a deep enough box where the filter is higher and won't be affected as easily. I'll of course have to dry out the box once in a while or more regularly.
Is my thinking flawed? let me know what I'm missing.

I think I read the Dodge and GM stuff is just Syntorq. There's also Redline MT90. Might be cheaper than the Amsoil stuff.
I'd move it. It's just taking up a ton of space there. Maybe Jacob can make you a custom two batter tray with a bracket attachment for the reservoir?

I bought my 60# valve springs from TN diesel conversions, but it's a cummins part, not aftermarket.
