Those louvres look nice. Can’t wait to see them on Big Red.
It will be a few weeks at the earliest. I'm about to travel out of state again for a bit.

Two thoughts, but worth checking before cutting up your hood;

Timing can affect engine operating temps.

Back when I tried wiring my waistgate shut on my stock td-05 turbo, it started pushing compression gases into the cooling system through the head gasket, over pressurizing the cooling system and rasing temps.

To solve this, I put a spring back in the waste gate (boost stops at 22psi now) and dumped some block sealant in it.
Never seen over 200°f since then.

I'm reluctant to mess with the timing again. I finally have it running at less than 1000* on the EGT on the highway speeds, but I realize that means more heat remains in the head. I don't think louvers alone will fix my issue. I will require stronger fans and maybe a larger radiator. We'll see how it shakes out.

100* weather today, decided to make the best of it. Took the family out to lake Georgetown and paddle boarded for a few hours.

Got home and put the hood back on. We're expecting thunderstorms tomorrow. Now it's time to light up the grill.

While driving this with the hood off, I noticed a leak in the small turbo where the clamp goes. It only happens when I gun it, not really a huge deal but it is dirtying up the engine bay and kinda annoying. Any suggestions on how to seal it?

Replace the turbine oil seal

Hey Mike how close is your starter to the frame? Can you get me pictures?

It's not too close, I can work on it comfortably. I'm not at home most of this week, but I'll take a picture when I can.

It was used with the engine, rebuilt it when the swap was done. The only oil I'm losing us the leaks from the blowback tube and near the pan.

Took some water in the engine, but it ran fine afterwards. Sorry for the bad quality video.

Cool buddy, need a snorkel
I have one, but I took out the air box to make the compounds breathe better. I wasn't expecting the pond. That was the 4th crossing , I went in too fast on that last one.

Ok running temp update.

I just got done driving it 170 miles on the highway from Austin to Ft Worth. Big Red got lots of thumbs up, but I'm getting some overheating. I drove it around 75 mph, sometimes hitting 80 mph with temps getting as high as 210* with no AC and the fan on. I even turned on the heater to lower the temps by 10 degrees at one point. It would drop back down to around 200* when I drove it at 70 mph or below. I think I need to start looking for a much larger radiator so I can comfortably push it when I need to.

Anyone know what radiator would fit and hold more volume?

PS. @Hojack I owe you a starter pic. I'll try to take it after work tomorrow.
