HI Marshall
a recommendation : have a look at this ECU Spitronics - Engine Control Unit

it is what I am going to use and it is a superior system. You will have the advantage of the exchange rate in your favour making this ECU about $250 for something that you will be paying more than $1000 in the US.

If you take the kit that included harnesses , Map sensor , ECU, relays etc then the cost will be about $350 . These guys cut there teeth on Toyota engines and reliability so that we use their systems to go into remote parts of Africa .

This guy has the only tech in this thread, all the other posts are about what color it will be :barf:

Any updates?

No updates. It's sitting in my garage taking up space. I have 0 time right now for anything other than customer vehicles. It will get done one day. I do have my eye on a 3fe turbo kit that would be a good addition to the mix.

A little over a year from the last post... Any progress yet, @Trollhole ?

Zero. Getting a new business off the ground has been my major focus. Though I've been hiring people to take some of the workload. I will say this I think the twin turbo 1HZ will happen before the 3fe

that is a bummer. I was looking forward to seeing what could be done to get some more power from this thing...

Hey Marshall, I now have my 2FE running on the MegaSquirt MS2. There might be some challenges with the VR signals and the mircrosquirt. At any rate, I have some major lessons learned, so if you do go that route let me know.

Are these lessons learned posted anywhere? Thanks.

Not yet, but in a bit I will. I only have it idling at this point and need to finish a few drivetrain issues before I start tuning under load. Once done, I plan to do a full writeup.

Was running MS2 on my IS300. Trollhole will realize that I didn't install/tune it :)hillbilly:), but was a huge improvement. Totally changed the car.

Edit: where did the smiley faces come from???

Can't wait to learn about this!
Hope you are a glutton for punishment. I'm not, by far, the sharpest knife in the drawer - but I do hold a BS in Electrical Engineering that I had a put a fair bit of to use since I couldn't much existing info on this motor/ECU combo. However, since I have it working now, a lot of that will be done for others - assuming you use a similar config to what I've done. I may pay to have it dyno tuned, but that a good chunk of change that I want to challenge myself with first and then fall back on spending. Sorry for the hijack Marshall.
