Been slaking as of later. Finally talked with the machine shop. Everything is good to go except for the balancing. They will have it ready next week.

What news?

Very quite, you go Color Blind:D

Not much until today. Finally got the call from the machine shop it was ready.

Bored, balanced, crank ground, and cleaned for $500. Not a bad deal in my book.

A lot of pics.

Question

#2 bearing. Is there one hole that should not line up to a passage?

Oh baby! NICE, NICE, NICE, Trollhole. All you have done, special, balanced crank, sweet. Doing her right. For my 74 F I chose the Downey torque cam, ported the heads, went with the Downey valve springs. I am having problems (see my cracked block and increasing valve gap threads). Plan on pulling my heads and having stainless one piece valves with trick seats put in. Man, great pics, how do you do that? Captioned pics, I have got to figure that one out.

Did your machine shop resize those rods?..... doesn't look like it to me.....

Throw some gay paint on that block immediately! It needs to feel the welcome of the commune;););)

Grant, how the Hell can you tell if the rods were resized by a pic? Inquiring minds want to know.

also finally got the fuel lines where I'm happy. Will probably extend them around the back of the valve cover and down the lifter cover then to rubber. I'll use one of the empty bolt holes on the valve cover to keep it in place and there is a couple spare holes on the other side.

If I soldered the pieces together would that be bad or should I have them brazed?

All in all I'm happy with the way they turned out. Looks much better than my first attempt.

See those black markings on the rod bore (where the bearings fit)? worn, loose fitting bearings causes that.... its good practice to have them resized on any major rebuild.... I have a fresh set at the shop, if you want I'll get you a pic tomorrow of what they should look like...anyway , you have a lot of $$ invested here I would go and get done... machinist around here only charge about 8 bux a rod.....

By that you mean they make them bigger. Wouldn't this mean you would have to get bigger rod bearings?

That's what mine cost here in KC.

Ed

good to hear you did..... I would be a little worried on Trolls balance job also..... see the differences in #1 and #2 rods in the pic?

They cut some off the mating surfaces of the rod cap and the rod itself and then re-bore the bore back to stock spec.

Whoa! "18 inches and a bucket full of balls and you call me "BOY?";););););)

Balance....

I might have missed the fact.... but Troll, if you didn't have the harmonic balancer, flywheel and clutch included in the balancing act, ask your machine boys about that as well........ common practice with most folks to do so cause if they are out of whack, just defeats the purpose of the whole mess....

All was balanced. Or should I say was checked all within specs.

Also asked him about the rod ends. He said he thought about it but after torquing all down and checking specs that all was good. I'm going to go with his assesment on this. He has been building these things for a long time. He said I would be throwing money away.

I remember something about the oil passage to the head going through a cam bearing. Have you gotten an answer to your question yet?

Cool pics.
