Now on to the lifters that I got from CCOT

All but one are the same. WHich kind of pisses me off. I'm hoping they will exchange it. The one that came in the two piece box but has the same part # on it looks like a much better quality lifter. I wish I had 11 more of those. But something tells me they are old stock.

One on the left is the only one that looked like it did.

And I really don't like the tops of the 11 I got. The One on the left looks a heck of a lot better. I'm hoping to get 11 like what is on the left. We shall see.

I get these lifters from the same vendor as CCOT and have used them for years, but never seen any like the left one......the ones in the pic are new stock....::

Got the pedal kit for the TBI setup from Downey. They are really a great buch of people.

Finally got the rest of the motor broken down and ready to go out to the machine shop to be bored and balanced.

Also took a pic of more big gay parts.

I thought about using glow in the dark paint but it would not have been gay enough. Just redneck.

For a total of $640 dollars. Dunno if thats a deal but I thought so.

The machine shop told me where to go get the pistons. Which was just down the street. Said they would give me a good price. Pistons came from ITM automive. I'm assuming it's one of the 3 big manufacturer of pistons. Will take pics of them when I get the engine back in two weeks.

Not a bad deal if you ask me. I decided to the Deves rings for the pistons even though the new pistons I bought came with some. Got those from MAF.

So if you add

250 for the MAF billet RV cam
150 for the OEM cam gears
1000 for the TBI fuel injection
130 for the Downey TBI linkage
120 for oem gasket and seal kit
140 for the head to be shaved and valves done
70 for the Downey air cleaner
373 for the engine parts
640 for the engine machining
120 for the CCOT lifters
100 piston rings
100 for some gay paint

Thats around 3200 dollars for people to point, laugh and tell me I'm an idiot. Priceless! TBI and the cam take up about half of that. Not cheap. In my personal opinion not worth it. But the learning experience has been great. A v-8 conversion would probably run about just as much or more done right.

If you were to tack on my time then you would really get into the big bucks.

That head work was awfully cheap! I had mine done, all new seat and exhaust valves springs checked, shaved .012 cleaned etc by a old and trusted shop $465 total for the head alone.....must be a union shop LOL.
I bought a engine for a hunderd bucks tor it down and having it bored .030 , cleaned , honed cam beqarings installed etc quoted $450 but I don't have it back yet.
Your prices seem to be in line with the ones I have gotten. I will probably be in over $2 g's when the smoke clears. But what about the pride and peace of mind it all brings.....crap I've spent more than that on booze for about the same amount of fun....

I have enjoyed this build so far. For sure the dyno will ultimately tell all. I priced out a 383 built the other day for $4000. That did not include the intake or carb/TBI/EFI setup. They make around 425 lbs. of torque at a low RPM range. Of course a V8 trows all kinds of other things into the mix that cost money. New acc., cooling, adapters or new tranny. I like what you are doing with that 2F. If the performance is there, I may do the same down the road.

I plan on doing a dyno of before and after. When I called they gave me the long pause and then "Are you serious?"

I'm betting under 98hp at the rear wheels with the current 2f.

Who wants to guess? I'll dig something up for the winner.

This is a great thread, besides the super gay paint this build is what I have been thinking about for mine. But it's certainly looking like it will cost a lot more than I had expected. I can't wait to see dyno numbers, that's going to be interesting.
