I keep forgetting the homework assignments. Sorry.

Here’s a pic of what it looks like as a whole:

They’re supposedly 33.9” but inflated to Gaijin’s recommended PSI:

Here’s the fender liners I cut. Just used a dremel and didn’t bother trying to clean it up since I’ll be getting a bumper and probably will have to cut more anyways:

I didn’t use any maths or science for cutting. Just found where it rubbed and kept cutting higher until it stopped.
So would you say that’s 32.5 or 32.75” tall. I’m at 32” even and might be able to fit these around the KDSS, but man will it be tight. Here it is on 295/70r17 STT Pros, which run big, hoping with the fact that BFG runs small, I could make it work when the time comes.

I think it’s around 32.5 and less than 32.75. Here’s another angle than makes it look less than 32.5. Hahaha.

@Mineral , the biggest difference between going with the Tundra conversion and the spacers is scrub radius.
Scrub radius - Wikipedia

with spacers, the wheel is that much further from the axis of rotation and changes where the wheel hits the fender liner.
with the Tundra conversion, the steering is left to OEM geometry.
the other difference, albeit minor, is slight increase in wheel travel, as the upper and lower A arms are longer.

So, am honestly not trying to lay claim to this thread; just have genuine comments for the prior posts

@Roy Park - looks great; appreciate the pics of the trimming. Selfishly, glad you did tires before bumper.

@Taco2Cruiser - your rig looks great. Those STT pros look to have quite a bit of life in them still. Just curious, what do you do w all your tires when you swap them out? I’ve toyed w changing out mine before they hit 4/32, but don’t know what I’d do w some halfway decent tires lying around. Even thought about picking up a used tundra 4wd for “Home Depot runs” and donating the stt pros to it - secondary benefit of another off road vehicle in the stable. Seems a little excessive, but tempting...

@TexAZ - thx, that’s helpful. So, if I get it and practically speaking, with the spacers one might have to trim more fender liner and/or mud flap than w tundra ifs, depending on how the scrub radius works out. Also, Tundra IFS allows for better articulation and no additional stress on the cv boots. Plus, it’s oem quality. My only slight regret about the lift is not having gone tundra ifs. 20/20 hindsight.

@mcgaskins - if you’re up for it, would welcome pics, measurements, and impressions of your ridge grapplers in 285/70R18.

It’s raining / snowing right now so not going to measure but just got it back from the tire shop. 285/70/18 on the stock wheel which according to Nitto is 34x11.50”. No rubbing to speak of other than the slightest tap on the front plastic in reverse at full crank. Honestly probably won’t even address it since it’s so minor. Going to be lifted with BP51s and putting on sliders in the next week too.

I swap them around on BudBuilt projects or sell them. Tread doesn’t matter for me much. I run these things at low pressure and off-road all the time. The carcass is pretty destroyed and causes unbalacable tires long before the tread wears. Brand doesn’t matter, it’s just a radial thing, and I don’t like to run bias ply on the highways.

Honestly, I’ll probably run these STT Pros till they fail. I’ve already torn one down to carcass, but I still run it on the ground. I’m crazy like that

Wait do you work at Budbuilt? Are you Bud?

No and no. Just a long time friend.

I’m active duty, and long ago was stationed a few hours from BudBuilt. I stayed in touch, and now that I’m back on the east coast and not deploying as much as I used to, have been visiting the shop more.

Ah understood. I have the bud skids on the Tundra. I cheaped out and got the ARB’s for the LC. If I manage to mangle them, I’ll upgrade down the line.

Replaced the end links (they were bent to hell and the bushings were completely hosed) and removed the relocation kit.

The 285/75s rubs a bit on the kdss bar at full lock, nothing horrendous but they do rub. I think with some alignment trickery and/or spacers it won't rub. But I'll deal with it as is. Far better than destroying $200 worth of end links every few months and having to change those things out (which sucks, a lot). Relocation kit promptly went in the rubbish.

Mind you my kdss is unbalanced since I was screwing with the bar. Need to reequalize this weekend.
Humm... that ain’t gonna work, especially when wheeling it, and torque is applied, not just turning the wheel. I can’t remember do you have UCAs?

Your bar bushings are shot also, you can get a bit of downward space with replacing those.

Yes, SPC, zeroed out. I might adjust them to see if that helps.

They rub far less than 35s WITH the relocation kit. Not that that says much. We'll see how bad it is in Moab in a few weeks.

Just do the tundra conversion and forget about it.

They're in decent shape, just that's the side I lost a relocation/bracket bolt in Baja and the bracket was hanging by one bolt and got bent to s***, therefore the bushing sits in there all wonky. I have another pair of brackets and bushings on the way.

With a set of Spidertrax. No more rub. Passenger side clears by a mile. Plus the stance with 285/75s on RWs with Spidertrax is just about perfect. If I adjusted the SPC UCAs it would probably clear even more, I was just too lazy to pull out my locktite and big torque wrench to retorque the SPC bolt.

Not a huge fan of spacers but it's far better than the relocation kit.
