Thanks!! couldn't be happier after always using BFG All terrains in the past. These tires are a huge step up as far as I'm concerned. Good luck and post pics once you have decided.

The Duratracs are on! 275/70/18

Will try and take better Picts later.

So far my observation is they are quieter than one would think. Rides noticeably taller than before and not as stiff as the Toyo MTs I had on my FJ Cruiser.

Next "project" is to install ARB bumper on the hundy. ;-) Been sitting in my garage for some time now. My other rig had been keeping me pretty busy :-)!

I've got 40,000 miles on my BFG ATs and they look like they're only beginning to break in! Granted, that's with a 5-tire rotation. They are quieter and smoother than the Michelins that it came with. They've done great in snow and on the trail.

This pic was taken 2 weeks ago - again, 40,000 miles doing a 5-tire rotation every 5,000 miles

What pressure are you running?

Love the BFG ATs. How's the highway road noise?

I'm looking for great road and snow traction.

Since my off road is minimal. I want to make sure I don't trash my ride/comfort characteristics of my LX.

All thoughts are appreciated!

Cheers,

Ryan

Tires are a very personal choice. I have run the BFG AT Ko's on my G500 my Defender and my excursion and I have to say since giving the duratracs a try on the 100 I would never buy the BFG's again. The Duratracs in an E load rating ride WAAAAY more comfortable than an E load BFG and these tires Grip like crazy. Great for every possible scenario I could put them through and a true AT tire. I would say they are slightly more noisy than the BFG but almost unnoticeable in the LX with the insulation. My brother just put a set on is tundra after my recommendation and he is so happy with the difference, he is down in Mexico and the cobble streets beat any vehicle up, the comfort was his biggest surprise given the aggressive tread. In any event like I said tires are personal and it really depends on your application.

I ran BFG ATs for years. I switched to DTs and will not switch back. They do everything a little better and the siping makes for a more secure feel in the rain. I have used them as DD tire, on the beach, on rocky trails and in the snow/ice and they grip like crazy.

Keep in mind, if you run X Brand tires for XX,XXX miles, then switch to Y Brand tires, Y Brand tires are going to so seem SOOO much smoother and quieter. We - consumers - routinely compare old tires to new. That's our "lab". The way we compare tires here (as opposed to how magazines, labs, Discount Tire, etc. do it ) is really subjective. Has anyone here gone to the trail with 8 wheels and tires shod with fresh sets of X and Y Brand tires? Then hit the snow? Then the rain?

It sounds like - after pages ('cause this BFG AT vs. DT discussion has been done about XX,XXX times) of anecdotal evidence, that we have a few awesome options for the 100.

Smart.

Bfg ta Ko tires are an old old design that needs a refresh (coming soon)

I run toyo at2 xtreme. Quieter than the dura.

I will say a non siped BFg at is slick in the rain. Dt, not at all.

Honestly, if you're going to see minimal off-road, Michelin LTX MS would be my choice. Maybe Mich AT2's if you're adamant about going AT.

Did anyone else notice how sexy that pic is? Wow. I was staring. Nice truck. You crank your tbars?

Sent from my iPhone using IH8MUD while navigating gnarly trail. Typos are inherent.

New BFG AT KO2

I am kind of surprised BFG didn't change the tire very much after all this time......

Must be a good design to start with.

I do like it just a little surprised

Thanks!
I cranked the t-bars about .55". That, and just ditching the running boards, ripping off the fender "garnishes" and putting the bigger BFGs on it, made look more like an actual Land Cruiser.

Agree, the DT's are really good looking but so are the BFG KO's. I had the KO's on my 80 series and without sipes they are not as good as the LTX MS2's on snow or slick roads.

I am in agreement with you. I am leaning heavily towards the Mich LTX MS in a size that fits my vehicle at bit better than OE.
