Those look great!

@richardrichss

Those look great! I am very interested in your review. I went w 275/70 original BFG s and they look small now and too tame lol. The new one look amazing! What rating did you go with? I made a mistake and replaced my BFGs AT LT snow rated for E load no snow rating and my ride went to UHaul quality :bang:

I did the BFG AT/KO's 275/70/18 "E rated" a couple of months ago, the KO2's were not an option at that time. My LX has the OME 2" lift and I love the ride with the old style KO's. I did not need the snow flake rating and lucky for me they cost $70 less then the new KO2's. I'm interested in learning more about the new KO's, like the new look and some day I will get a 200 series and these badass looking KO2's would be a nice addition.

With plenty of discussion on 275 and 285 section width tires...

I offer you something different. For those looking for something wider, I'd encourage you to checkout 305/60/18s. Right under 33". I've had them for over 30k miles on my car with plenty of varied conditions and it has worked out great. Not to mention it looks great. It does rub ever so slightly at max lock. But not enough to cause concern or bother addressing in the years I've had this setup.

I'm running the standard rec and couldn't be happier. BFG AT/KOs 275-70/18. So far very happy after 3000 miles and some wheeling.

I love this look! You may have just changed my mind on my next set of rubber (which probably has to happen next summer). You mentioned that rubbing is minimal with the exception of full lock, any other instances? I don't wheel all that much (yet) so I think I'd be alright. Any other fitment issues/drawbacks so far? How about with AHC on the low setting?

I do have AHC and the tire size is a non-issue except for the full lock rub. It's never come close to touching the fender even in low position.

On the road, this combo works with aplomb. I'm a serious sports car junky, yet I've never tested the full limits of cornering traction with the meaty 305 section width. With AHC in firm, it's quite sporty and can do round-abouts or on ramps carrying some good speed.

Not a great side shot but another perspective

I was going with the 305/60's but went with the more aggressive tread on the Toyo Xtreme 285/65r18's. They are louder at hwy speeds but not annoying.
Just under 33 inches and wide enough to fill out the wheel wells.

Steamrollers only way to go.

My 13" rollers.

I don't know what's 'best' - guess that depends entirely on your use - but i went with 275/70-18 BFG AT/KOs and really like them.

I like the look of the steam roller approach but I'm trying to avoid rubbing whenever possible (but it's soooo tempting!). Does anyone have a pic of a stock '06 w/ AHC with the 285/60R18 Toyo OC ATII's? I'm looking at those as an alternative but don't like the look of tall/skinny tires in general.

I do like the look of that tread and considered these toyo xtreme's possibly for my next tire. Disappointing, though I guess expected, that they are noisier on road.

The NTG's in 305/60 are really a great balance all around. Barely louder on the highway than stock, great manners all around, yet capable off road. I keep wanting to go bigger, but practically speaking, it would bring compromises that don't exist for me now to any noticeable degree. Like lost gearing that would compromise power and towing (w/o regearing). Little talked about but even more importantly, braking torque would be compromised and that safety margin is not something I want to give up with family or track car in tow. And for width, obviously I'm at the max threshold now unless I want to run spacers or different offset wheels which would compromise suspension geometry.

Meh, all that stuff is a bit over-baked especially since we're not talking 35s, at least speaking from a 200 owner's perspective. We're not on ih8 because we keeping things as-is.

You definitely choose your own adventure it when replacing any OEM part with a non-OEM part. 33s and going wide is hardly sticking your neck out. Plus, it's not like we're trail braking at 130mph hot into a chicane from a long straight here. I had the LT AT2s and now the Xtreme AT2s - noise level is barely, barely noticeable. Like you, I have a side hobby that involves go-fast smaller cars (911s) so I get what you're trying to think through.

Good luck and have fun.

I'm all for 35's, and yours looks great BTW, but it's just not completely practical for my usage. I don't kid myself and pretend my car is sees 50% off-road use because in reality, I need to it work better than great on the highway where it sees 95% of it's usage. 33's walk that balance better. 35's are a slippery slope of compromises I'm just not willing to take until this truck becomes strictly an off-road play thing.

I'll save the serious steamrollers for my 911 turbo and that 130mph chicane ;)

I agree. I've been running 305/60 TGs on a couple different trucks, and they look FAR better than other "standard" tires out there........
