@theron what are you doing with the 4Runner brakes and MC you'd installed? Are they up for sale? Your rig still hanging around Tor's these days, or are you back on the road? Was going to swing up that way.

and was the 4 runner a good upgrade from your perspective over stock?

I'm not exactly sure what the plans were, I couldn't take them with me...drop Tor a line!

used parts make new parts less expensive :)

That's incorrect because used parts (ie: cores) come back remanufactured.

And remans are DEFINITELY not new. They are remanufactured.

Generally speaking by folks in Michigan who work for ADVICS or AISIN.

Either way, remanufactured is just that: Someone else has stuck it.

If it don't say "Made in Japan" on it, it ain't new or even close to it.

:meh:

If you want new you buy new and pay for it up front.

What I meant by what I said is the that shop can put those parts to use or sell them in some circumstances.

If I replace something on my truck and sell the part I removed that money made the new part less expensive, make sense? Moot point I guess, just trying to be pleasant/cute/funny originally.

Hijack over, and back to observing a man living the dream we all wish we could?

Awesome Rig, build, and thread.

look forward to seeing more

they're 86-95 mini truck or 4 runner spindles, front range brackets,03-06 tundra calipers, rotors, pads. This makes future brake changes easier also, no need to pull the hub to replace the rotor

Tor-

You should make this an available kit - you know, for those of us that have a complete brake makeover pending =)

Just saying. . .

S, Tor's the ultimate Landcruiser magician out here...you think it up and he'll figure it out...and make it better than you thought possible.

You need the Front Range Off Road caliper brackets, 17" wheels to clear the bigger calipers and the proper Truck spindles....I'll get more details on the exact spindles for ya next week

While there have been several projects that added to my current project makeover, your rig would be the biggest contributor. absolutely beautiful, amazingly functional, and 100% individualized. Love it. . .

There are a few truly genuine, extremely talented, perfection or nothing fabricators on MUD and I agree, Tor is among the few. Jason (Trail Taylor), Dave (4+ Products), Stan (HFS), and Kevin (Wagongear) being the others I'd personally vouch for without hesitation.

I just got word back on my roof top tent warranty claim from James Baroud USA / OK4WD (they are the same company): Denied.

It is what it is. I didn't strike anything and I felt the gel coat was starting to separate but they felt otherwise. I still can't recommend their product even though it's still on my truck, simply because they so boldly and proudly promote a 5 year warranty when they sell you one.

Gonna keep on keeping on! But if you're about to spend $3000 I def would consider other brands with better customer service

That sucks, are they covering the price shipping or at least part of it ?

Yeah, they are covering the shipping cost back to Seattle. I do believe they are gonna approach warranty issues and customer service different now which is a win for anyone else out there with a tent.

I've never been so torn over a brand before. They honestly do have the best tent design out right now but for $3000? Dunno.

What was their reasoning behind the denial?
They should be providing you proof that the failure was directly caused by you and not a flaw in their design or workmanship.

I get they have the right to make that choice, however it doesn't make it right when the claim to have a 5 year warranty.

That's disappointing to hear. A bit off topic, but back in the early nineties I had an original North Face mountain jacket. The gore-tex started to pucker up and the laminate from the shell. They sent me a brand new updated version no questions asked. I also had a sleeping bag which they replaced, basically because it wasn't as fluffy as it used to be. They had at the time a lifetime warranty. I hear that nowadays it is very difficult to get the same service. It's sort of like the episode of Seinfeld where he says anyone can take the reservation, but HOLDING the reservation is the important part.

They told me they brought in a fiber glass expert that they know in the area and he said it was not a manufacturing defect but was from an impact. The problem for me is that still can't show any evidence of an impact. And I'm still not sure exactly how they prove that it is or isn't a manufacturing defect

But you're right it def is their call in the end...I just got the short end. I honestly don't think great companies are built like this. Case in point against James Baroud USA is they knew the ladders were breaking but didn't recall them....yeah.
