Lol all good, you had me pumped to do signal peak again.... who knows what the rest of this warm week will bring. Also possible storm brewing up for Saturday.

Yeah, I saw that. Afternoon storms, but not surprising with the heat we have right now. I guess that puts a damper on my plan to go up to Signal Peak and stand on my metal roof rack holding my aluminum hiking poles over my head. Oh well. 😂

Could make for some fun trails. I'm stoked. I desperately need to be in the mountains.

Hi @1world1love @civil offroad here! Im from the Sacramento Area and like to join this cool kids club. @mrburlingame can vouch for my coolness and likeminded ness or maybe lack of coolness (I dont have a 200, just a 100)! :) I'd like to join a meetup with you folks (time permitting of course) I have 2 kiddos under 2 yrs old! o_O

Dont go to Signal Peak! Spare yourself from the folks who like to ruin good trips with good friends. Lots of cool off shoots in the soda springs area. I have a family friend living there so been mapping some trails.

This was from last year (during rona) with a group of friends. No one in this opposing group seemed to understand that uphill had the right of way! Oh and that lead T4R was insisting on going down regardless of our position. All while the his daughter was screaming that she was scared and he insisted "Im a better driver than this LC guy!" While we were sorting this minor brain malfunction, a jeep jk insisted on going downhill and squeezed between us. Stating we were all causing a jam!

There was a colorado in the back that decided to do a hill climb to get out of our way! Wow, people!!

All in all we made it up to the top. But, it could of been without the drama!

Here is one of the trails I had explored (pre-rona). Obviously I didnt cross the questionable bridge.

But the short hike took me here! Just South of Donner Lake!

Hey. It's always good to have more folks in the area to join in so don't be bashful to invite yourself to any meetup posted here, or organize something as well. I think we all just like to hang out and run trails, and avoiding stress and drama is probably high on everybody's list.

That doesn't look like a fun trip up to Signal Peak that you had. We had a similar experience at Hollister Hills where it looked more like the 101 than a. trail. I think it will be that way for a while on any trail that is reasonably accessible.

That's one thing I like about the area around Signal Peak (including Soda Springs). You can lose crowds pretty easily. There are tons of trails all over and most people drop out after a few miles of teeth rattling.

That is the great thing about being in an LC. You can comfortably go where a lot of Jeeps don't. Not because the terrain is difficult, but because their endurance is tested to the limits. Meanwhile I am sitting back rolling along in comfort mode and 20 PSI while sipping ice cold beverages from my center cooler and having my ass cooled by ventilated seats and listening to Mark Levinson tuned jams. Like Captain America says - "I can do this all day".

BTW, where is @mrburlingame - haven't seen him here in a while and would have expected him to show up in this thread at some point.

More the merrier, i am heading up Saturday to the soda springs area for a day trip. Young kids and dog as well. plan is to meet up at the Indian Springs camp ground and explore some trails.
That sounds like a terrible trip up to the peak. My last time to signal peak was quite different. Surprisingly didn’t run into anyone while venturing up the “difficult side”. The Cisco grove “fire road” side is usually more conjested, which way did you all take up the peak?

@TLC2013 Yeah the Cisco Grove side. I've never gone up the "difficult" side. I guess I should give you a shout and try the Eagle Lakes side. I guess, I am a little scared  Maybe I should stop watching Youtube on it and FREAKing out when they come up to the "rock" in the road. But, Im excited to be a part of a MUD meetup.

You should come meet up with us on Saturday. We are planning to do Pierce Creek loop but may have a look at the west side up Signal Peak if the snow pack is melted enough.

I will be going up tomorrow night and will be staying in Soda Springs. I’ll try to scout things out on Friday to see what it looks like up in the higher elevations.

I’ll have my kids as well, though they are a little older.

The so called difficult side isn’t too bad, there are a couple decent obstacles like that rock in the road but nothing crazy. Having a spotter will make things even easier. while 33”+ tires are not necessary It will make it that much easier. Definitely a fun Trail, gets super narrow and rocky, so you don’t want to see anyone coming down as you are going up, not much space to get out of the way. Seems like most folks go up the hard side and then Cruise down the Cisco grove road back to the hwy.

It would be great if you can make it Saturday

@1world1love and @TLC2013 I appreciate the invite for this Saturday from you both. Unfortunately I cannot make it due to some other family commitments but, hopefully soon! Please send me a PM with contact info and hopefully we can get something in the books!

Well, it turns out I'll be unavailable for the June dates but coincidentally I'll be in Tahoe this weekend with the LC. We're generally there to hang out with some friends, but it's someone who just recently bought a '97 80-series that's wanting to learn more about offroad driving. I was planning on showing her the ropes near South Lake, but Signal Peak (either side) may actually be a good start. I'm a bit hesitant as it's a busier trail, but just wanted to put it out there that we might be in the same place at the same time.

@indycole it would be great to see you again, hope you and Friend make it out. The area around single peak has some fun mild trails that are perfect starter ones like Pierce Creek Loop. I’ll be at the Indian Springs staging area around 1100-1130 Saturday morning. There is cell coverage in the area too.

Awesome. Meet us at Indian Springs Saturday morning. @TLC2013 will be there mid-morning, but I am going up tonight if you wanted to meet up earlier Saturday morning.

👆 What he said, there are a lot of great trails around there. Eagle Lake is good too. It has maybe one or two sketchy spots, but not as bad as SP and probably less traffic. I think Pierce Creek is a great option too. I am looking forward to that and will probably do it Sunday if we don't get to it Saturday.

Awesome day trip to the mountains, couldn’t have been with a better group guys and gals. The Super clean and stock 80 Did fantastic.
@indycole killer shot of “the200’s” water crossing.

Yeah man. It was an amazing day on the trails. I am ready to do it all again. But calling that a water crossing probably isn’t entirely accurate. I mean you couldn’t see one end from the other and there was a blind 45 degree turn. My kids referred to it as a “River Cruise” 😂

Cool shot! Haha totally. Looks like the start of the jungle cruise at Disney Land lol. If I hadn’t done that crossing last season I may have thought twice.

Looking good guys and gals! Looking forward to a future trip with you guys!
