Pierce Creek looks great. I couldn't find an official trail, but there are a few routes on Gaia. Is this what you were thinking:

Thats it. The trail also loops around over a nice stream crossing and connects back with eagle lake rd. You tube has some good footage of the area which is worth watching to get a feel for what to expect.

The green trail markings show the whole trail system in the area of peirce creek loop.

Sounds like a perfect early season trip. Easy drive from the bay, literally right off of 80, lower elevation so no snow concerns, and lots of trail and camping options and the potential for a snow-melt water crossing or two. I am all in. I will bring the kayaks and tackle box as well. I mean somebody may need to entertain the fish.

Awesome, looking forward to it.

Hi folks! Just got a new-to-me 2011 LX 570. In the process of sorting with out with Vector 5s, 33" AT3s, and sliders.

Looking forward to a trip with you folks! We live in San Jose.

Side question: anyone have any recommendations for an indie repair shop in the South Bay that you like?

Thanks!

I take the truck to Valley Hybrids (@orangefj45) in Stockton which is about a 1.5 hr drive for anything I can't do myself. They're pretty busy these days but totally worth the wait if there is one.

I've had mixed results with the local dealers and haven't found any local shops (but haven't really looked, either). I do like Pro Alignment and Brake in Campbell for alignments. Early on I had some work done at 4WP on San Carlos... it was fine.

@mrburlingame had quite a bit of installation work done on his truck further up on the peninsula... he may have some recommendations?

Thanks @indycole! Good to know about Valley Hybrids.

The stuff I need in the short term should be pretty easy:
- Evaluate/repair this coolant issue (hoping this isn't a valley plate issue)
- Brake fluid exchange (would do myself, but looks like a pain on the 200)
- Spark plugs (hoping to do myself, but may not have time)

I took my 4Runner to Kevin's Auto Repair in Sunnyvale for these kinds of things, and had good luck.

If anyone has any other recommendations, pls let me know. Thx!

Yeah, not sure about down in the South Bay, but on the peninsula, a good place for general maintenence is C&T automotive in San Mateo. They are a Toyota/Lexus specialty shop and although they are not a cruiser specialist, they usually have one or two cruisers in the shop. It is a small shop and they are always busy, but they are trustworthy and efficient.

For more custom mod work, there is ABC toy garage in San Carlos. They mostly do Jeep and domestic truck lifts and whatnot, but I have spoken to them a couple of times and they have done some cruiser work and seem incredibly competent.

You given the Eastern Sierras any more thought?

Yeah! I can make a 3/4-day weekend with minimal notice over the summer and am pretty flexible when it comes to trails/locations. At some point "Eastern Sierra proper" will be too hot and it'd be better to do something north of Tahoe, along highway 4 (been considering a Slickrock run over the summer though there some obstacles that are borderline for the 200).

I think we will be over in the Mammoth area the week of June 13th, but I am waiting for the wife to confirm. I was thinking about some upper elevation trails. I would be up for something up north as well. Slickrock might be beyond my skill level at this point and I would probably benefit from something more substantial than the OEM skids 😂

There is a cracking campsite a couple of miles in from 4 though, right on the river.

Thx all the shop recommendations!

@1world1love - Would love to join on that trip, but we're going to be out of state for much of the summer. I'll stay subscribed here and stay tuned in for when we return.

Hi all, new 100 series owner up in the North Bay (Marin). Just wanted to introduce myself and see if I can join in on some activities if you'll have me.

Welcome and for sure you should join or even feel free to organize as well. I know a lot of folks are in the South Bay and may not be as familiar with spots to check out up north so if you have suggestions, don't hesitate to throw them out.

We may try to hit Mendocino NF this weekend. We usually camp for Mother's Day and I am waiting on my wife to decide where she wants to go.

@TLC2013 - Looks like 2 weeks of unseasonably warm weather cleared out everything. This is the latest SAT from Gaia:

Looks like we won't have any snowpack to worry about.
Looking forward to it. I wonder how accurate these snow pack and satellite imagery will be. This is what I show using GAIA’s snow overlay feature for the area. They claim the images are from 5/9/21. Looks like signal peak has some areas of snow along the top potion of the trail.

Yeah, I'm a dummy. Something was wrong with my FreshSat overlay 😂
Lol all good, you had me pumped to do signal peak again.... who knows what the rest of this warm week will bring. Also possible storm brewing up for Saturday.
