I'm going to get a new battery this weekend. I've been running an Optima Yellow Top for 5 years, and am going to swap it out before it fails. No issues so far, but at a lifespan touted to be 2-3x longer than a normal car battery, I'm still in the zone where it seems responsible to change it out before it inevitably dies on me.

So- what are you using in your 80?

I'm starting my research into Interstate batteries as a replacement- I've heard good things.
On the other hand, the Optima did so well in Northwest Territory and Alberta winters that it's going to be challenging for me to convince myself that switching is a great idea. Help me out?

I also run an Optima Yellow Top. Had it 3 years now, no issues. I'd buy another.
The Interstate MTP-24 seems to have the same qualities for CAD $100 less. 750 cca and 10 mins more of RC @ 25 amps

I have Interstate batteries in my Toy Hauler. They seems to work well, have no complaints about them either. Only thing I have run into is no local shops stock them.
Yeah, maybe that's why some guys don't run them (the local shops thing). Their shop in my hometown is 3.1 km away so maybe I should just go for it

Interstate 24 for Charging battery and Interstate 31 for House battery

I like the Interstate batteries, just bought new ones last month. My original Interstate lasted 6 years.

This time I went with the Costco Interstate brand. Let's see how they hold up. $210 out the door for two batteries was too good to pass up. Specs are the same as the Interstate MTP line sold elsewhere. Some people say the Costco line is not as good as the 'real' MTPs but we'll see.

My main battery is a 65 with 1000 CA/850 CCA/150min RC. Backup battery is a 24F with 875 CA/700 CCA/130min RC.

Nice man, I really appreciate the photos.

Optima is crap since they were bought by johnson controls, interstate batt's from costco are the ticket......

I run 2 of the largest deep cycle rv batt's from costco in my 80, they perform great, you have to trim them a bit to get them to fit, and it is a tight fit, but the capacity is great with the two rv deeps...

5 years huh? You must not live in Arizona where the average battery life is 3 years in this heat.

I run the Autozone Duralast Gold in my LC. I have used the warranty once and had no issues when I had to take it in. The AGM batteries offered by Autozone are nice but they did not have the CCA that I wanted to crank these big bitches over. The one battery I would consider using is Odyssey. I have used them in my Civic in the past and that thing spun that tiny 1.5L up every time.

I've been running Odyssey's in everything I own ( 6 ), haven't replaced 1 yet and 1 in Tacoma is 12 years old. You get what you pay for.

For me, I'm not sure I'd be replacing a working battery just because it is 5 years old. I have Optimas last for 8 or more years. Maybe I was lucky, but if it ain't broken, don't fix it.

I'm running a Blue top Dekka AGM ( batteries Plus) 31 as the main and a Batteries Plus Duracell AGM 27 as the backup....

here in TX batteries rarely make it past 3 years it seems so the Batteries plus pro-rated warranty isn't all bad.... they just replaced all 4 deep cycles on my boat at no cost

I have a hard time believing that the Costco battery is any less quality than the regular Interstate. Back when Costco sold Kirkland brand Optima batteries I bought them there. Most lasted 5 years or more. The one that didn't make it past year 4, I returned to Costco and they gave me a brand new one, no questions asked. I'd buy the Interstate Costco brand for my toy hauler but they don't have the sizes I need.

Chiming in to follow this thread...
I'm also in the market to replace my battery. I currently have an Interstate MT-65.

I've not had any major issues with it, but about a year ago, my wife accidentally left the lights on and killed it. That seemed to have shortened its lifespan.
With moving to the PNW, I've also noticed the effects of the cold weather on it, so I'm looking to up the CCA.
I'm considering either another interstate (thankfully there is a local dealer here), or Deka, which I've also read good things about.

Have had good luck with these for quite some time now.
