yep, seen that, but I have no hardware so by the time I have paid sor, paid the shipping, paid the import tax, sourced a hinge and knob.................. well you get the idea.........it gets a bit too spendy. (and on top of that it's a repro!)

has anyone fabricated anything to replace theirs??

anyone know if my springs are stock??

thanks for any help

glovebox hinge and hardware are fairly generic...prolly use a cut to size painted black piano type hinge and I have seen guys do their dash pad repros in wood BTW. the piano hinge will not be spring loaded, but a guy with some time and a few basic springs ought to be able to make it almost perfect. this ingenuity is what owning a pig is all about;)

new seats in the pig.................

Come on, you got to say more than that, about them. That back seat looks like it was made to fit. What brand seats?

Good Job, by the way!

yep, seats are leather and electric. they come from an 07 Honda accord and were bought via ebay for all of £28. the seller asked me for more money after the auction ended! (he didn't get it).

they took weeks of sorting to get them to fit , especially at the rear and the back rests are still a work in progress to get to fold correctly.

wired them in to a battery under the rear seat( which feeds the winch )

really pleased with them - gives me a push to get the door panels sorted - perhaps in a similar leather??

Very nice.

Very Nice, Indeed!

When you have the time, would you post some pictures of thehow you ran the winch cable. I'm assuming the cable runs to the back. Very good idea.

You ought to feel bad for stealing those seats :).

yep was gunna cover the winch install next. it is, like a lot of things on this truck, a work in progress. I've bolted it to a piece of angle which is bolted to the chassis rails, the box keeps the winch clean and houses the battery. this box is welded to the body but has clearance between it and the chassis work. basically the cable comes to the back and will thread around a hooked snatch block, double back on itself and run all the way to the front following the same path as a pto shaft would. it will exit the front bumper with a second hook. this allows use from the front (single line pull) or rear (double line pull). it also keeps a the extra weight between the wheels and saves extra length at the front. remember I still have plans to bob this truck to reduce its length! a few pics..... I have more if anyone would like.

wow, killer work with the Honda seats and the hidden rear winch under seat mount is spectacular work! Will it get used though?:)

this is the split charge kit I have fitted to serve the aux battery, its quite a neat unit which links the batteries together with the engine running so both are charged. when stopped the batteries are separated so I can use the winch and not jeopardise starting the truck. it also gives you the facility of manually linking the batteries so should the winch need more then it is available, or conversely the ability to jump start the starter battery from the aux. it will also give the voltage of both batteries at the press of a button.

don't know if you get the tmax brand over there , but the kit costs around £75 here.

Damn, we're even losing our Cruisers to the Poms! Good to see one being loved instead of rusting away as they like to do.

Very well thought out. What's between your positive battery post and the solenoid?

they are circuit breakers that came with the winch. there are three mounted in parallel, each rated at 50a I think, on a pair of bus bars. I guess they trip if there is a problem causing a current flow much in excess of 150a.

hi all ,

can someone give me some help with my heater?

the 55 came to me with its heater box containing a good matrix and the fan unit. unfortunately the ducting between them was missing, the remaining ducting was perished and the cooling system pipes were shorted out.

I have managed to fab a couple of plenums and fit all new (aftermarket) ducting which I am happy with. I have also got the cooling system running through it with a London taxi heater valve., which again works fine so the heater system is up and running..

to complete this I need to know what goes in front of the large front flap and where I might get it. is this the correct part http://www.cruiseryard.com/fj55-center-vent/

also need the knobs for the heater controls. are these available or maybe of other models of cruisers??

and lastly the fan appears to draw air in from the cavity between the inner and outer fender. does this cavity need to be vented someware to outside air? the 'vent' on the outer fender is solid?

thanking you all in anticipation

rob

Rob,

Sorry, I only have one set of the heater knobs and I'd like to keep them for future use.

Good Luck with your quest.

Ron
