We've been hit with several below zero days and plenty of snow but have managed to get some beams installed for the loft. Slow going when the doors are open and it's - 5........Can't wait till spring and summer to get it done!

Nice work! Question on your post plates, are they bolted to the floor somehow?
Yes. The plates are 1/4 inch steel with a center hole in the base plate for a 5/8 inch anchor bolt drilled into the concrete and the bottom of the post is drilled out to sit over the top of the bolt. Also, the entire concrete floor is 5 inchs and I had six additional 7 inch footings (6-8 feet in diameter) poured for each post for a total of 12 inches of concrete and rebar under each post. The other two 12 inch footings are for the future vehicle lift.

The posts are 8x8 Douglas Fir reclaimed timbers. Each one is notched at the top supporting the loft beams. I'm having some additional custom 1/4 plates made to bolt the beams to the posts. Trying to keep some of the miner history alive with these great old posts!

Had a little spare time today and decided to spend a little time in what has become on of my favorite forums here on MUD and just came across this project. Wow, what a great looking location and amazing shop build. Love how to you are keeping the history of the location alive with the design of the shop. Any updates since the last past last year?

Many thanks! I forgot to update this thread due to simply being busy with both the shop and life. We did get the 2 x 6 rough cut beetle kill pine flooring in, steps built, utilities down to the shop and start filling it.
