I have been talking with him on a custom rear... I'm good with whatever.. Just want this one out of my way...

Trying to clean out the shop and make room for new TOYS... Once I sell my 80 rear stock inventory... the CNC plasma table will be ordered... This will open me up to more products and faster turn around times. Table can be running while I am welding things out....

I dont want to hi-jack the thread, but I felt like this is the most appropriate place to pose this question.

I have a dilema. I want my rig to look classic, and fairly un-modified. I think the lift is tasteful, and the tires arent huge.
I really want to go out and wheel my cruiser on some challenging trails, but I dont want to beat the crap out of it. I hate dents and scratches because its my daily driver and I love how clean it is. I also think it would be a shame NOT to wheel it in its natural habitat.

So on with the question.

Does anyone have any ideas for front and rear bumpers and sliders that could be easily removed and stored in the garage to be brought out and attached before a wheeling trip?

I think I want to keep the stock bumper for around town/dd driving, and build a cleaner rear bumper that is permanent (similar to reevesci's bumpers). I also want to build some sliders that arent super prominent but get the job done that can act as steps when Im DDing the rig.

Is there any system where I could hook up additional armor before hitting the trail? Such as fender guards, rear quarter protection, brush guard ETC that could maybe all bolt together? I need it to be strong enough to be protective, but not permanently welded together so my truck doesnt get too much of a "mallcrawler" look.

Any thoughts?

Will, no worries on the post..

I see/understand what you are after. But, hardware and mounting brackets etc.. won't exchange between the two (or at least on my products) The OEM frame horns/bumper brackets are designed for the 30-50# thin gauge factory bumpers. Even designing a beefier bumper around that could work in theory but not against the rocks and trees over time IMO. Also, the pure time involved to swap things back and forth would kill the mood to go wheeling for most.

I do know this... first major scratch or ding you get.. it'll be OVER! I've had a couple of really nice cruisers that I've built up over the years. I about cried when I got my first door ding on Ole Blue.. After that I didn't care and my love for a pristine nostalgic vehicle went off the chart and the fun meter shattered the glass on the gauge.

BY the time you buy/design custom armor for your mallcrawler to be dual function (unless you do it yourself) the $$ that you will have wrapped up, you could go buy a decent starter trail cruiser. Possibly with a few mods already installed. Wheel it, thrash it, learn what you really want in a trail rig... AND you will have your nice rig for DD and a tow rig to go get your other from the depths of FUNVILLE!
