I installed air lockers in my rear ends and want to have just a tank bracketed to the underneath of my frame to hold air in which I can just fill with air prior to going camping or whatever. Has anyone done this as well to run their lockers without actually having a compressor on board? I bought this used heavy duty little tank in which has a fill on top, a pressure gauge and a tap to go to my lockers? is this feasible and then I can have some kind of valve to open to let the air engage the lockers and a purge valve to release? Just didnt see the reason for a compressor if I have a good size tank?

Thanks

I would think all you would need is a hose to the cab where you could open a valve or something so you could actuate the locker.
IIRC the ARB line need about 90psi for it to engage, But I would be wrong.
I had a small 2gal. tank once But it kept leaking, So I gave up on it and havent put it back on the truck
Good luck

Just my 2 cents dont know a heck of a lot about air lockers but when you get low on air I would be afraid of parcial engagement resulting in damage .The compressor maintains the correct air pressure for the funtion.

Howdy! That tank may not be safety rated for high enough pressure to run air lockers. Most trails I have seen require multiple lock/unlock cycles, at least for the front axle. Your gonna need a friend with OnBoard Air to refill that tank pretty often. John

The tank seems a little puny to hold enough air to actuate the lockers several times and if you have a little leak, you are out of business. Why not back it with a small 12V air pump?

Thanks fellas, I dont know much about lockers, I have the manual I need to read up on to find out how much air will be needed, I did not know it took so much, if that is the case then I may very well need the compressor? The partial engagement would pose a problem as well along with needing to engage more than once. Very good points, thanks again, I will go back to drawing board

Randy's Ring and Pinion has the High Output ARB compressors on for $202. That is where I got mine for my Taco. And even just having it locked all the time there is a little bit of air loss over time so the compressor kicks in once every 20 or 30 minutes. I wouldn't just have a tank full of air. Drop the coin on the compressor I love mine and you don't have to have a tank. And it pumps up my tires pretty quick. Well worth its money and it wasn't even that much when you look at the big picture and what your getting. It already comes with complete wiring harness switch and you can spend another 40 and get the kit to plug an air line into the compressor as well as air line and tire filling adapters.
