Hello,

Other than the SCS wheels, I am looking for ideas on a new wheel and tire setup. Sorry no 16's/oem/or “pro comp” style wheels.

Please post pictures and specs

TIA!

Fuel Vector D600 17x9 w/ 315/70/17 (0.2" smaller than 35's in BFG AT at least--34.4" OD vs 34.6")

I got them secondhand off of a guy on ExpeditionPortal, although they were new in box. They needed machining of the lip ($125 at a pro tire shop IIRC) to clear the hub size.

Yes, I have looked at those posts/threads. Personally not interested in “pro comp” style/looking wheels, or oem 17’s. I appreciate your posts 👍

Looking for what’s new out there that I haven’t come across.

Summit off road introduced a new wheel, but unfortunately it’s a 16”

Titan introduced their new T-AK1 17” wheel, just not a fan of the “steel wheel“ looking face.

Also, I like the Stealth Ray10s but will need to bored to fit

@lasoundguy great start and thanks for the info!!

Icon makes Offroad wheels that fit the 80 series backspacing needs. I’m looking at the Icon Rebound, but haven’t ordered yet. Seems like a lot of wheels require spacers, which I’m trying to avoid.

Checkout @Box Rocket here or on instagram, though he is on 37’s. Nice wheels !!

I hate spacers. Looked around a bunch and finally found some 17x8's with -10 offset (FN/Konig Countersteer Type X), which I hope will minimize rubbing. Wanted the narrow width to keep the beads tight when aired-down to single-digit psi with 37x12.5 MTRs.

I had the hub hole bored-out by the supplier's go-to machine shop to eliminate the center cap lip.

The tires and wheels are sitting in my garage waiting for some suspension tweaks and a regear (*$igh*), but I did manage a trial-fit and got a few pics when first received. Anxious to get them on the trail.

This was the purpose of the thread, awesome!! @NorCal97 do you have sideview pics? I'd like to see how flush they are or if they poke.

I've had (2) sets of the FN five stars in 16s and they have been perfect (on my 3rd gen 4runner)

Sorry, can't believe I didn't take any straight-on pics front or rear...this quartering shot is the closest I have. Slightly more poke-out, but not much.

I was shooting for a small bit of additional width to help with rubbing at full stuff with 37x12.5's, as my current set of 35's (315/75R16's) scrub the frame (rear) with the 0 offset factory wheels. The rubbing is harmless with the 35's, but I didn't want to try 0 offset with the taller and slightly wider 37x12.5's.

Given the stock 8" width, -10 offset, and when compared to factory rims, any tire on these FN's will poke-out an additional 0.4", so not much change in track width. Pretty sure they'd still be flush or sit inboard if you are running factory flares and 315's or 12.5's.

I'd offer that if you find a wheel you like, don't sweat it if you need to machine the hub bore...this will sting your wallet for a little bit, but you'll be left with what you want. Happy hunting.

Is the 25mm offset Icon offers the correct offset for an 80?

Discount Tire offers the Level8 MK6 in 17x8 -10mm offset (ET-10).
8" rim width is optimum in my opinion because it is the narrowest that meets the 37x12.5 tire manufactures recommendation, and so the tire store won't give you any grief or refuse to install, as I've heard some will with the 17x7.5" Sequoia Tundra wheel, which also needs a hub spacer because of it's 15mm offset. - add a 1inch spacer ( -25mm) puts the total offset there at -10mm (outward). A very good wheel and inexpensive, but it comes with a couple of issues.
That keeps the tire width profile to a minimum.
-10mm offset is nearly optimum - the tire is moved outward by 0.39" (a tad more than 3/8") relative to the hub mounting surface.
The OEM wheel is 16x8 ET0 (0mm offset) , as a starting point to compare.

The Icon page shows two 17x8.5" wheels with a 6x5.5 BP1
There is a wheel available in 25mm offset, but the bore is only 93mm.
The correct wheel is one line above with offset of 0mm, backspacing of 4.75" and bore of 106mm.

Helpful, thanks!

Running 35s on 17s I think -25 offset works great! No rubbing in the fenders and am not running bump stop spacers. I wanted to ditch my wheel spacers with my OEM 16s and 315s, so now running a negative offset 17 and really like it. These Relations Race Wheels are beadlock hybrids and weigh a little more than OEM, but my truck weighs 8000# and really wanted a heavy duty rim with higher weight spec. they come in the proper 106.4mm hub bore but needed small clearancing at the outside of the bore where the center cap fits. I used a router and flush bit to do it.

Here are my 17x8” -10mm FN Five Stars. Begging for 37s

(The center-bore will need center cap lip removed.)
